Ansan Italian restaurant for a husband's birthday: shrimp rosé risotto

I was wondering where to go for my husband's birthday, and ended up at That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge (그남자의이태리식당&라운지), a steak spot in Jungangdong, Ansan, run by two brothers, one of them a chef with 22 years of experience. You can pick from pasta, risotto, steak and even course meals, and the atmosphere was so lovely that I have to tell you about it right away.

That Man's Italian Restaurant: location, hours and parking

That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge is at 40 Gojan 1-gil, Danwon-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi, on the 6th floor of the Dongwon Building. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00–22:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00, and closed every Monday. There is parking in the building's basement plus public parking lot support, and you can book through Naver.

What's the atmosphere like for birthdays and anniversaries?

The moment we opened the door, it was the perfect mood for celebrating my husband's birthday.

The terrace view from the window is so beautiful. Restaurants with this open feeling are rare in Ansan, so it's great for blind dates, dates and anniversaries. Each table also has plenty of space, which I was really happy about.

There's also a private room inside, so it works for family introductions between future in-laws and for parents' gatherings. The lighting is gorgeous, isn't it?! I especially loved the terrace area.

They say they plan to serve meals on the terrace in the future, but for now you can only relax there with a coffee after your meal. The lighting is really pretty too.

What did we order at That Man's Italian Restaurant?

We ordered the young lamb French rack steak, medium rare, for ₩43,900, the shrimp rosé risotto for ₩19,900, and the lovingly made soup of the day for ₩6,900. The lamb, which got rave reviews, was a must.

The water is wine-colored, so the mood is really nice, right? They have a wide variety of wines and even a wine cellar, so it made me want to come back and have a glass next time.

Bread and sweet potato cream soup

The bread came out first.

Crispy outside, soft inside, it's crazy good. I was happy with it from the very first bread.

Next came the soup of the day, which that day was sweet potato cream soup. The cream shaped like a cloud is striking.

The clouds pop in your mouth, and the sentimental feel is honestly amazing. One bite gives a subtle sweet potato flavor, not too sweet but not bland either, and I really enjoyed it as a starter soup.

How does the French rack lamb steak taste?

The French rack lamb at That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge was tender with no gamey smell at all, the best lamb steak I've ever had. And finally the main dish arrived.

You have to see it in person: the soft lighting makes the mood crazy good, and the lamb looks even crazier. The garnish served with the lamb is really nice too, right?

I cut a piece and took a bite and wow, I've never had lamb like this. The peak of tenderness! It's tender without any gamey smell, the best lamb steak I've ever eaten.

Dipping it in the various sauces adds even more flavor, and the lamb is delicious on its own, so I was satisfied however I ate it. At That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge in Jungangdong, Ansan, definitely order the lamb!

Shrimp rosé risotto

The shrimp rosé risotto is neatly presented from the garnish onward, and the flavor is neither overpowering nor heavy, so it went really well with the lamb.

The garnish is really... We have our wedding anniversary in December, and the look and taste make me want to eat it again then. Plenty of places serve shrimp rosé risotto, but at That Man's the dish is neat from the garnish onward, and the flavor was neither overpowering nor heavy.

Receipt review dessert: egg tart and Häagen-Dazs

For a receipt review we got an egg tart and Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Great as a dessert, right? It's a course that keeps you feeling good to the very end.

The soft egg tart and the ice cream go well together and made the perfect final course. It's a small happiness you can enjoy with a receipt review.

Who is this place good for?

That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge has spaces for family meals, company dinners, family introductions and group events, and it has just the right atmosphere for dates, anniversaries and blind dates. I fell for the atmosphere once and for the taste twice. Saved as a place I'm definitely going back to.
