On a day my husband and I went to Songdo to finally catch the Spider-Man movie, I spotted such a cute café on the way to the theater. The weather was really nice that day. But with the café door thrown wide open and adorable bears visible inside, I just couldn't walk past! 🐻

Turns out it was Cafe Cozy Bear, a spot in Songdo, Yeonsu-gu that had only recently opened.

Cozy Bear had that cute vibe from the outside, and it happened to be running an opening celebration event too.

Salt bread varieties and the size of the shop

Cozy Bear is a fairly small café. Which actually made it perfect for us, popping in for a quick takeaway before a movie.

The salt bread lineup was more varied than expected — potato, castella, pollock roe, red bean butter, garlic, and plain, all lined up.

Since we'd already eaten by the time we got there, I sadly only picked the plain one. Honestly, if we hadn't already eaten, I would've used the opening event to grab a few of each kind... still a little disappointing thinking about it now haha.

Gift box packaging for salt bread

With a name like Cozy Bear, bear characters show up everywhere in the shop, which was so cute. They also had pretty box packaging ready for gifting salt bread. Sometimes you bring coffee or bread when visiting a housewarming or a friend's place, and packaging this nice would make a great gift option.

What we ordered and the prices

Here's what we ordered:

  • Iced americano ₩3,800
  • Real grapefruit ade ₩5,000
  • Plain salt bread ₩3,000

That was our simple order. One thing I really liked about Cozy Bear was how reasonable the prices were! Café drink prices these days aren't cheap, so it was nice to stop by without feeling like a splurge.

The nice touch of the bear-themed packaging

When our order came out and we got our takeaway, everything arrived in adorable bear packaging.

Iced americano and grapefruit ade in bear-themed packaging

I tried the iced americano first — a nutty, full-bodied bean with no sourness, the kind of coffee just about anyone would like. But it wasn't watery or weak either, so it passed as a solid basic americano!

And the grapefruit ade I ordered had just the right amount of carbonation, with that distinct grapefruit tartness coming through nicely. It wasn't just sweet — there was real tartness, so I ended up finishing it way too fast...^^ I usually just order coffee at cafés, but going with grapefruit ade that day was such a great choice haha.

How was the plain salt bread?

And now the plain salt bread I'd been looking forward to! Right away I noticed the coarse salt crystals studded across the surface. Taking a bite, the outside was properly crisp and the inside had a real chewy texture. Best of all, that butter cave salt bread lovers look for was clearly visible. As the butter melted, its nutty richness combined with the salty crunch on the outside made it pair perfectly with coffee. I love salt bread, so I really enjoyed this one — good enough that I'd personally call this place a salt bread spot worth visiting.

Next time I definitely want to come without eating beforehand and try the potato, pollock roe, red bean butter, garlic, and castella flavors too. Especially when the opening event is running, buying multiple gets you one free, so salt bread fans should definitely take advantage of that.
