Songdo Central Park walk, 3 salt breads to go: Cafe Cozy Bear

In short

Cafe Cozy Bear is a salt bread specialty bakery café on Haedoji-ro in Songdo, Incheon. After walking through Songdo Central Park and browsing Hyundai Premium Outlet, the writer arrived just after 2pm, when the showcase was packed with freshly baked salt bread, and took home the pollock roe, garlic and potato flavors. The salty pollock roe salt bread and the potato version with its mashed potato filling were the two worth going back for.

Cafe Cozy Bear: the salt bread bakery to hit after Songdo Central Park

Cafe Cozy Bear is a salt bread specialty bakery café on the first floor of 160-19 Haedoji-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It's open daily from 09:00 to 19:00, and you can park for free at the Songdo 13 public parking lot.

I've been going around chasing good salt bread lately, so I have a soft spot for bakeries that specialize only in salt bread — there's something extra professional(?) about it! The weather's been so nice recently, so I went out to Songdo Central Park~ The plan was to take a walk, browse the Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet, and have a fun day. While looking for a café bakery in Songdo Incheon, I came across Cozy Bear. It happened to be famous for its salt bread, so I went straight there.

When is salt bread freshly baked, and how does the 3+1 deal work?

At Cozy Bear, freshly baked salt bread comes out twice a day, at 9am and 2pm. Since it's a newly opened shop, they're also running a buy-3-get-1-free event on salt bread.

Might as well buy 3, right?! You end up eating about 4 salt breads in one sitting anyway(?) If you time it right, you can catch the salt bread fresh out of the oven! Bread is definitely best fresh. I got there a bit after 2, and the case was packed full of salt bread.

Six kinds of salt bread on the Cafe Cozy Bear counter

Cozy Bear's salt bread lineup is castella, pollock roe, garlic, red bean butter, plain, and potato. The showcase packed with salt bread makes you happy just looking at it~

  • Castella salt bread
  • Pollock roe salt bread
  • Garlic salt bread
  • Red bean butter salt bread
  • Plain salt bread
  • Potato salt bread

A lineup that couldn't possibly taste bad... I've seen quite a variety of salt breads, but this was my first time seeing a castella salt bread! With the castella powder dusted on top, it looked even more delicious. After some deliberation I bought the pollock roe, garlic, and potato salt bread!

Gift boxes and the bear mascot at Cafe Cozy Bear

Cozy Bear's salt bread is made with good ingredients. They also wrap gifts nicely, so it's good for gifting dessert to someone or as a return gift. The dessert box has a bear drawn on it, which seems to be Cozy Bear's signature mascot — it's on the sign too! It's cute enough that it would make good merchandise.

I got mine to go! The bear hugging a salt bread on the takeout bag is genuinely adorable~

How the pollock roe, garlic and potato salt breads tasted

Here's the salt bread I bought. Looks delicious just from the photo, right?!

Cozy Bear's pollock roe salt bread is a must, no question. I love pollock roe salt bread and always buy it wherever I go, and this one was genuinely delicious! The salty flavor paired really well with the salt bread. The potato salt bread had a mashed potato filling inside, so it felt like eating a potato bread! Kids would love it too. The garlic salt bread felt like eating garlic baguette, and it was just as tasty.

Salt bread tastes best the day it's bought, so I ate all of it the same day I got it. Cozy Bear, the café bakery in Songdo. Next time I'll come back for the castella salt bread!
