My kid is a total salt bread lover, and these days if they see salt bread they want it 🤍 After watching a Magic Cabaret show over Chuseok (Korean harvest holiday), my kid said they wanted salt bread, so we went looking for something fresh-baked and ended up at Cafe Cozy Bear Salt Bread Bakery Songdo Hagwonga Branch (카페 코지베어 소금빵 베이커리 송도 학원가점), a bakery café in Songdo, Incheon.

It's a brand-new Songdo café, so I was curious, and right at the entrance there's a cute little bear, which my kid loved. We tried the plain salt bread, castella salt bread, garlic salt bread, and the vanilla bean cream latte, which is the signature drink. Here's our visit to Cozy Bear with a salt bread lover 😊

Where is Cozy Bear in Songdo, and is there parking?

Cozy Bear is about a 30-second walk from Songdo Sikjajae Mart (a grocery market), so it wasn't hard to find, and it sits right in front of the public parking lot, so it's easy to come by car. Park, look at the first floor of the building, and you'll spot the cute café with bears painted on it 🐻

The vibe at Cozy Bear, a new Songdo café greeted by bears

As the name suggests, there are bears drawn all over the place, so it felt charming from the moment we walked in. The interior is white and wood, so overall it felt clean and warm.

Maybe because it's new, the shop was kept spotless, and the owner was friendly, so we could look around comfortably :) If you're looking for a bakery café in Songdo to visit with a kid, I think you'd like this cute atmosphere too.

There are outdoor seats outside the shop too, so on cool days like these it would be nice to sit outside with salt bread and coffee 🤍

What time does the salt bread come out at Cozy Bear?

The salt bread comes out fresh twice a day, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. They only make a set amount each day, so once it's all sold, they may close early.

Cozy Bear's 6 salt breads and prices

There are 6 kinds of salt bread: plain, potato, castella, garlic, mentaiko (seasoned pollock roe), and ang-butter (sweet red bean and butter).

We ordered the plain, castella and garlic salt breads, plus the signature vanilla bean cream latte.

Sadly the potato salt bread was sold out when we visited, so we couldn't try it this time T_T It's made with domestic potatoes boiled in-house for a soft, mild flavor, so next time I'll come a bit earlier and get it.

The mentaiko salt bread uses a house-made mentaiko mayo sauce, salty with a little spice, and costs ₩5,500. The ang-butter salt bread is a handmade item with house-boiled Korean red bean paste and butter, at ₩5,800. If you love fresh-baked salt bread, it might be worth timing your visit to when it comes out of the oven.

How does the plain salt bread taste? (₩3,500)

The plain salt bread was crisp outside and moist inside, with a rich buttery flavor. They say they use French fermented butter, Guérande salt and premium flour, and the bottom was baked especially crisp, so the texture was great to bite into.

It isn't the overly salty type; a gentle saltiness comes through the buttery richness, so it's easy to eat. My kid, of course, said it was delicious and gobbled it up ᵔᴥᵔ A true salt bread lover, haha ෆෆෆ The price is ₩3,500.

The castella salt bread I liked even more (₩5,000)

The castella salt bread, the one I was looking forward to more, is packed with their secret cream. It has that crisp salt bread texture outside and soft, sweet cream inside, so it has a different charm from the plain one. Salty bread with sweet, soft cream was great like a dessert ෆ

Cozy Bear castella salt bread filled with cream

Perfect for me, since I love sweet things. My kid ate it happily too, probably because it's sweet :) If you visit with a kid, ordering one plain and one castella salt bread to share would be nice. The castella salt bread is ₩5,000.

Garlic salt bread with real savory depth (₩5,000)

The garlic salt bread is made with domestic garlic and Cozy Bear's own secret sauce, and a gentle garlic aroma comes up along with a salty, savory flavor. If the plain one is centered on buttery richness, the garlic one adds that garlic flavor and tastes a bit stronger.

My husband picked the garlic salt bread as his number one, saying it was delicious. With so many kinds of salt bread, it was fun to pick what suits your taste. The garlic salt bread is ₩5,000.

How is the signature vanilla bean cream latte?

The signature vanilla bean cream latte had soft cream with a strong sweet vanilla aroma, and went well with salt bread. I ordered it because eating just bread felt like a shame, and the staff said they're as serious about coffee as about salt bread, and maybe that's why the coffee was good too.

You could see real vanilla bean flecks in the cream on top, which made it look even tastier. Mixed with the coffee, it was sweet yet smooth. The sweetness of the latte balanced the salty, buttery plain salt bread, so the two went well together. If you're looking for a bakery café in Songdo where you can enjoy bread and coffee together, try ordering a drink too.

A review event gets you one more salt bread

They were running a review event when we visited, so we joined and got one more salt bread. My kid was thrilled to get an extra one :)

Visiting Cozy Bear in Songdo with a salt-bread-loving kid

We came because my kid wanted salt bread, and there was more variety than I expected. The plain one was crisp and rich, and the castella one was sweet and great for sharing with a kid. The garlic one suited adult tastes a bit more, so ordering several kinds for the family to share would be nice.

Above all, I loved that my kid could eat their favorite salt bread fresh-baked 🤍 If you want a casual place for bread and coffee with a kid in Songdo, Cozy Bear is worth a stop. It's near Songdo Sikjajae Mart so it's easy to reach, and with parking available, it was no hassle to visit with a child.
