A Yeongjongdo café after driving lessons: 5PM sunset hour

5PM sunset hour is a café in the KCC Swichen shopping block in Yeongjong Sky City, known as a great spot for salt bread. My oppa (older brother) gave me a driving lesson in Midan City, and then we came to this Yeongjongdo café. This is what we came for, and this is happiness!

I wanted to treat myself, who worked hard at the driving lesson, and my oppa to good coffee and desserts, and while searching I found 5PM sunset hour. It was a weekend afternoon and the place was packed with locals.

The outdoor tables were full too. It's the season for coffee and desserts on a nice day 👏🏻 We thought about sitting outside, but we went indoors.

5PM sunset hour has set times when the bread comes out, so I made a note of them. It's really popular. From salt bread to egg tarts, canelés, financiers, scones and sliced bread!!!

Is the indoor seating big? Two tables and a counter bar

Inside 5PM sunset hour there are only two tables, so it's not that spacious!! We sat indoors. With the weather so nice these days, a lot of people were sitting outside.

It seems they also have a counter bar (dacchi bar). If you sit there, you can watch the drip coffee being made, hehe.

There were lots of menu items, but we ordered an iced americano and the drip coffee (Sunset)!

Weekend salt bread sold out, so a fresh Dubai salt bread instead

When I went to 5PM sunset hour on a weekend afternoon, the salt bread was gone the moment I ordered. It's famous as a Yeongjongdo salt bread spot and I really wanted to try it, you know? But it sold out right as we ordered, and I was so sad ㅠㅠ

Some customers had waited for the next batch and bought it. (It's really, really popular on weekends, so go early.) They said they were baking more, and I wondered what to do, and then

in the end I grabbed one fresh Dubai salt bread. The chocolate on top hadn't even cooled down yet, and I asked for it anyway, haha.

What we ordered: sunset drip coffee, iced americano, egg tart, canelé

At 5PM sunset hour that day we had 2 egg tarts, 1 canelé, 1 Dubai chocolate salt bread, plus the sunset drip coffee and an iced americano. We ate all of it.

Look at how gorgeous the drip coffee and iced americano look.

Maybe it's because of the expensive machine, but the coffee was so good. As someone who used to work part-time at a café, I always check the coffee machine and the cleanliness, and it passed both!!!!

How were the egg tart and canelé?

The egg tart at 5PM sunset hour is packed with filling but not greasy. One egg tart per person is the standard, right? Since the salt bread was sold out ㅠ I ordered a canelé too.

Just look at how the egg tart looks.

It's really packed with filling, yet not greasy, just rich nutty flavor and crispy pastry 😘

I'm someone who ate one canelé a day on my trip to Paris, and this crisp-outside, moist-inside, nicely holey canelé gets my pass.

Sunset drip coffee and iced americano

The sunset drip coffee at 5PM sunset hour was full of nutty richness and fruity aroma. When I ordered drip coffee, they prepared and brewed it right then. I thought about buying one more cup but held back. It was just so fragrant!!

I ordered an iced americano, and even that was so good that I finished it very fast along with the desserts, haha.

5PM sunset hour interior and entrance

5PM sunset hour is a café where the owner's interior sense really shows. It was small and cute but full of focal points, and browsing the decor was fun too.

Even the entrance is so aesthetic.... What is this owner's sense!

A Yeongjongdo café near Midan City: payment and event info

It's a quick drive from Midan City after a driving lesson, so I recommend 5PM sunset hour as a Yeongjongdo café 👏🏻👏🏻
