Charcoal-grilled duck table setting at Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch

I went to Incheon with my dad recently and we had duck for lunch. Dad usually loves any kind of meat, and while we were figuring out what to eat that day, we decided on charcoal-grilled duck since it had been a while. After some searching, we ended up at Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch. I've liked Ganaandeok duck for a long time, so I thought dad would enjoy it too — and sure enough, he ate happily, which made me proud.

Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch is located on Jangje-ro in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. It's also close to Bakchon Station, so it's a good option for anyone searching for Incheon Bakchon Station duck restaurants. We drove there this time, and since the place is quite large, it wasn't hard to find.

And parking — so important when dining with family! Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch has a wide dedicated parking lot, so we could pull in without any worries about parking. Dad said it was nice and easy to park too.

Inside, the restaurant was quite spacious and clean. The tables had generous spacing too, so I never felt too close to the next table. We were seated by the window, which was bright and not stuffy at all, making for a comfortable meal.

We visited around noon on a weekday. There seemed to be a lot of families dining there too, so it felt like a fine place to come with my dad.

Kiosk ordering and the price of 700g of raw duck

Table kiosk showing the duck menu screen

After sitting down, we ordered from the kiosk on the table. You can pick items by looking at photos, so it seemed easy even for first-time visitors.

Looking through the menu, there were many types of duck. Raw duck charcoal grill, smoked duck, duck jumulleok, mud-baked duck, neungi mushroom duck baeksuk (whole duck soup), duck stew, and more — quite a variety of meal options. Since we wanted to try the most basic option, we ordered the whole raw duck charcoal grill, 700g, for ₩56,000. It looked like a good amount for the two of us.

Banchan and what is on the self-bar

Basic banchan spread with seasoned chives and wrap vegetables

Not long after ordering, the side dishes were set out. There was seasoned chives, pickled onion, kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, pickled radish, garlic, ssamjang (dipping sauce), perilla leaves and lettuce, and cabbage — quite a variety. I especially like eating seasoned chives or wrap vegetables with duck, so I was happy with the banchan lineup.

We were told we could use the self-bar for any extra banchan or vegetables we needed. There was also seaweed soup available, so I scooped out a warm bowl. Dad said it was nice to have some soup alongside the meat too.

Grilling the raw duck over charcoal

Soon the raw duck we ordered arrived. The grill plate was quite wide, so there was plenty of room to lay out several pieces of meat at once.

Charcoal brazier set into the center of the table

The charcoal is placed in the middle of the table, so the staff explained to be careful not to let hands or clothes touch the fire.

They also put a sweet potato right into the charcoal for us.

They said by the time we finished the duck, the sweet potato would be nicely cooked too, which I was quietly looking forward to.

How did the charcoal-grilled raw duck taste?

I laid the duck on the grill and cooked it until golden. As soon as the meat started cooking over the charcoal, this savory smell rose up and honestly made me even hungrier haha.

Golden, well-cooked charcoal duck

Once the duck was nicely browned, I tried a piece — savory with a subtle smoky char flavor. There wasn't much of that gamey duck smell, and the texture of the meat was good too.

When I eat duck, I prefer pieces with some thickness rather than thin slices, and Ganaandeok's duck kept its texture well even when I piled several pieces into a wrap. Dad said the meat was tasty, better than he expected. I was glad we came here to eat meat together lol.

Duck in a lettuce wrap, one bite at a time

Lettuce wrap with duck and seasoned chives

Duck really has to be eaten wrapped. I put a piece of duck on a lettuce leaf along with seasoned chives and bean sprouts. Adding pickled onion on top went perfectly with the savory duck, and I kept eating one after another.

A piece of duck paired with wrap vegetables

Dad likes to make big wraps, so he stuffed his with a ton of duck and ate it in one bite — watching him do that was kind of hilarious lol. We chatted about this and that while eating, and the whole 700g duck disappeared quickly.

The free mung bean porridge at Ganaandeok

Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch offers free mung bean porridge. While eating, I checked the tablet you use to call staff and saw you could request porridge too. So we asked for one. It came out in a nice single-serving portion.

The flavor was mild and lightly seasoned overall — good even plain, but I liked it even more with a little salt added.

Eating meat continuously can feel a bit heavy after a while, but having the mung bean porridge in between felt like a palate reset. Dad said the porridge was good and ate it happily too.

Roasted sweet potato and the coffee machine after the meal

Warm roasted sweet potato pulled from the charcoal

At the end, we pulled out the sweet potato that had been roasting in the charcoal the whole time. I'd been wondering when it would be ready since we started eating, and by the end it was perfectly cooked. We were pretty full already, but you just can't resist a warm roasted sweet potato haha.

Rather than eat it right away, we packed it to eat in the car on the way home. Having the warm sweet potato as a snack after the meal was its own little treat. There's also a coffee vending machine in the restaurant, so we had a cup of coffee and rested a bit before heading out.

Is Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch worth a weekday lunch with family?

This visit to Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch with my dad was satisfying overall. Above all, the duck was delicious, and grilling it over charcoal gave it a nice savory aroma. There were plenty of side dishes and wrap vegetables to pair with the duck, and having the free mung bean porridge and the roasted sweet potato at the end made the meal even more fun.

The restaurant was also spacious and clean, plus the parking lot was wide, so it seemed like a solid spot for a family meal out. I went looking for somewhere to eat with my dad, and I was glad he enjoyed it so much.

If you're looking for duck restaurants in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, or duck restaurants near Bakchon Station, Incheon, Ganaandeok Gyeyang Branch is worth a visit. Next time, I'd like to try the duck jumulleok or the neungi mushroom duck baeksuk that we didn't get to this time. It had been a while since I'd had good duck with my dad, chatting about this and that — it was a really nice meal :)
