Dessert bar at Songdo outlet: 2 kids fight over 1 soft serve, Wunder

When you're shopping at the Hyundai Premium Outlet in Songdo (known as "Songhyeona") with two kids, a moment always arrives: energy gone, blood sugar crashed, haha. We'd looked at kids' clothes and browsed all over, our legs were getting heavy and the kids were running out of steam too... and that's when our family thinks of Wunder Coffee Bar at the Songdo outlet. We'd enjoyed it before, so going back felt natural haha.

What did a family of four order at Wunder Coffee Bar?

This time we didn't get greedy and ordered just two things: one Wunder Gato and one vanilla soft serve with choco shell. My wife and I shared the Wunder Gato, and the two kids shared the ice cream.

Wunder Coffee Bar is on B1 of the Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo, so it fits right into your shopping route. You don't have to go out of your way to find a café; when you get hungry or crave something sweet, you can just stop in. It's also nice to sit for a moment on the way to the food court, then get back to shopping.

Especially with two kids, there are moments when peace only returns if you feed them something before saying "okay, let's go home," lol. An ice cream and a short break is perfect for that.

Wunder Coffee Bar has so many tasty things~~ I was torn between a Wunder Coffee and a Wunder Gato, but I was craving ice cream today, so Wunder Gato it was! Wunder Coffee is something like an Einspänner (coffee topped with thick cream), haha.

What does the Wunder Gato at Wunder Coffee Bar taste like?

The Wunder Gato at Wunder Coffee Bar is an affogato-style dessert: smooth ice cream with rich espresso, and my wife and I shared one. It's one of my favorite things at Wunder Coffee Bar. When hot espresso hits the cold, sweet ice cream and the surface starts to melt, that's when it gets good, lol.

With the first spoonful you taste the soft, sweet ice cream, and right behind it comes the deep, bitter espresso. It isn't a dessert that's only sweet; the bitterness of the coffee keeps it balanced, so it's really nice for adults. As the ice cream melts and mixes with the coffee, it turns into something like a sweet coffee dessert by the end, which is fun too.

With my sugar crashed from shopping, one bite and I thought, "Ahh... I'm saved, lol." My wife and I took turns with the spoon, and even one Wunder Gato was just right as a dessert.

For the kids: vanilla soft serve with choco shell

The kids' menu was Wunder Coffee Bar's vanilla soft serve with a choco shell added! The vanilla alone is smooth and rich, but with the choco shell on top, it's game over for the kids, lol. The ice cream melts very softly in your mouth. Instead of a gritty, icy feel, it melts creamy and moist, with a sweet, nutty vanilla flavor.

And then the choco shell on top! At first it looks like soft chocolate, but it quickly hardens on the cold ice cream and gets a crackly texture. Crack it with a spoon and eat the crunchy choco shell together with the smooth vanilla ice cream, and it's really good. The kids went crazy for it, of course, lol.

One soft serve for two kids ended in a sibling fight

Making two kids share one vanilla soft serve with choco shell was my mistake. The original plan was beautiful. I figured I'd buy one ice cream, say "share it nicely, you two~", and that would be that.

But... the first kid took a bite, the second kid took a bite, back to the first... and gradually the size of each spoonful became a problem, lol.

"Why did he take a bigger bite?!" "I'm eating it!"

I mean, they'd been walking around the shopping so well just a moment ago, and suddenly one ice cream starts a war T_T If it were bad, they'd let each other have it, but it was so good they were scrambling for even one more spoonful, lol. In the end, Mom and Dad divided it up fairly and barely wrapped it up. Next time we'll just... order two, lol.

A good spot to rest during a Songdo outlet shopping trip

Wunder Coffee Bar is just right when you've walked a long time at the outlet and need coffee, something sweet and a short rest all at once. Once you start shopping at Songhyeona, you end up walking more than you expect. After a few stores and following the kids around, you suddenly want coffee, something sweet, and a seat for a moment...

Then the adults recharge on sugar with the coffee-based Wunder Gato, and the kids rest with smooth soft serve. You don't need to plan a separate café outing; you can enjoy a tasty dessert right on your shopping route, which is really convenient. It's good as a dessert after a meal, and good for a mid-shopping energy recharge like ours.

Back again, and still happy with Wunder Coffee Bar

We'd enjoyed Wunder Coffee Bar on a previous visit and were satisfied again this time haha. I loved the Wunder Gato's combination of sweet, smooth ice cream and bitter, rich espresso, and the vanilla soft serve with choco shell got such a reaction that the kids fought over who'd eat more, lol.

When your sugar drops while shopping, one sweet treat like this somehow gives you energy again, right? Rested up and recharged for another lap, haha. When we want a sweet dessert or cold ice cream while shopping at the Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo, Wunder Coffee Bar has become almost a must-stop rest for our family.

And next time... I'll really buy the kids one ice cream each. Watching a sibling brawl in the middle of Songhyeona over one dessert is enough, once, lol.
