Today I'm introducing a place I visited a while back — a Goyang Hwajeong bar, a whiskey bar near Hwajeong Station called Lucent Bar, a standard bar.

I've been going out to bars in various regions outside Seoul lately, and this time it's Goyang. It's located right next to Deogyang-gu Office, and it's just a 6-minute walk from Hwajeong Station.
Inside Lucent Bar: seats for solo drinks, dates and groups
Inside Lucent Bar, the whiskey bar near Hwajeong Station I recommend for a Goyang Hwajeong drink, there's first a long bar table.
Across from the bar table, which is great for solo drinking, there's one 2-seat table, one 4-seat sofa, and even a room. It covers solo drinking, dates, and gatherings all in one. The music is calm and the lighting has a nice mood.
As usual, I sat at the bar table planning to have a light 3 drinks before heading home. Note that you can freely request songs too. The bartender was super friendly, which honestly put me in a good mood.
What's on the Lucent Bar menu? Whiskey and cocktails
The whiskey menu at Lucent Bar, this Goyang Hwajeong bar. Prices seem reasonable overall. If you look at the display case beyond the bar table, they seem to have pretty much every kind.
There's really no other bar around here with this kind of classic yet comfortable atmosphere, so if you want to quietly sip a neat pour lost in thought, or you're looking for a cozy date spot, this place fits the bill.
Cocktails, snacks, champagne, cognac, beer — just find whatever suits your taste and drink up. The cocktails lean toward low-ABV long drinks or liqueur-based options good for beginners, but if you want to get properly tipsy, you just go for the Faust, haha.
Godmother, 14,000 won: smoked with oak chips and cinnamon
Godmother (₩14,000) — it's been a while, so instead of the Godfather I went with the Godmother to enjoy Disaronno's own sweetness. The default snack is pretzels and chocolate. FYI, Disaronno cocktails pair really well with chocolate.
They smoked it with oak chips and then cinnamon sticks too, so I drank it with an even richer aroma. As my favorite liqueur, Disaronno, true to form, went down smooth and sweet even after all this time, honestly.
What comes on the Lucent Plate, 10,000 won?
Lucent Plate (₩10,000) — wow, for just ten thousand won, this is a real steal, isn't it? For people living alone like me, this is a good way to actually get some fruit into my diet, which is good for my health.
Ham cheese crackers, truffle crackers with cream cheese, olives, cherries, cherry tomatoes, and grapes — solid, solid! They really put together exactly the kind of things that pair well with strong cocktails or whiskey. It's not pricey to order just for yourself, but there's a decent amount, so ordering it for two would be fine too!
Johnnie Walker Green at Lucent Bar, 18,000 won
Johnnie Walker Green (₩18,000) — ordered as my second drink after a long time, so I could feel the flavor of the blended single malts. Green tends to get overshadowed by budget-friendly Black and the crowd-pleasing Blue, but doesn't it hold its own pretty solidly in the Johnnie Walker lineup?
People usually pick Black as a budget gift and Blue as a premium gift, but if the person you're gifting to actually knows their whiskey, giving them Green will honestly make them really happy. Of course Blue is still the best for gifting overall, but especially for people who like peat, Green works great too.
Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or at Lucent Bar, 24,000 won
Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or (₩24,000) — somehow I always end up ordering the ones that are like comfort food, guaranteed to be above average whenever I order them, haha. This one also boasts pretty impressive quality for the price — it's my favorite Glenmorangie 16-year after Signet.
The rich taste that comes from noble rot wine cask aging is what makes this one so charming — I genuinely love it. From its Nectar D'Or predecessor days to now as simply The Nectar, it's the one I periodically order whenever I go to a bar. It's delicious as a highball too, but these days I like it better with just a few drops of water.
One cocktail and two whiskeys later, I've safely wrapped up today's solo drinking session and I'm heading home now.
