Geomdan pork BBQ dinner with a child: ₩39,000 small platter, Taedon

I went to Taedon Geomdan Sageori Branch, a well-known spot in Geomdan, Incheon, and ate the Handon (Korean domestic pork) mixed platter of pork belly and kkodeulsal.

Where is Taedon Geomdan Sageori Branch, and where do you park?

Taedon is at 2 Wanjeong-ro 133beon-gil, Geomdan-gu, Incheon, a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Geomdan Sageori Station on Incheon Line 2, so it's easy to reach by public transport. It's open daily 11:30-22:00 (last order 21:00), takes group reservations, and has baby chairs.

For parking, Taedon has its own lot behind the restaurant, and it's free, so it's easy.

Taedon's atmosphere and seating

Inside, there's none of that typical BBQ-joint smell or greasiness. It's kept clean and comfortable, and the mood is upscale and stylish, so it works well for a family gathering.

Mostly 4-person tables are spaced out widely, so eating is comfortable, and there are big tables that seat 6 to 8, which makes it great for group meetups and company dinners.

What side dishes come with the meal at Taedon?

The free sides are farm-direct mixed mushrooms, Seomun Market flat mandu (flat pan-fried dumplings, a Daegu specialty), bibim jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles), Dubai chewy ssamjang (dipping sauce), a steamed egg in a stone pot, and bone broth. I've never had a BBQ place give so many sides! They're all great with the meat, and the table is full and satisfying.

Flat mandu topped with sweet, crunchy jjolmyeon and juicy meat is a dream combination. The ssamjang was special too: the Dubai chewy ssamjang has kadayif (shredded pastry) in it, so it's crispy and chewy at once, and delicious.

I came with my child, and the bone broth that comes as a standard side was perfect for a kid. A child can have a hearty meal here with bone broth and meat.

Taedon's signature items are antibiotic-free pork belly and kkodeulsal, and there are Handon mixed platters in 400g and 600g sizes so you can try several cuts. There's also affordable Handon frozen pork belly! Sides like kimchi stew, soybean paste rice stew and naengmyeon (cold noodles) are varied too, so there's plenty to choose from.

There's also a lunch special for just ₩10,000, where you can choose from Handon naengsam (thin-sliced frozen pork belly), an iron-plate set, kimchi stew, soybean paste stew and rice, so a filling lunch is possible too.

You can bring your own alcohol, except for drinks the restaurant sells. Up to 1 bottle is corkage-free, so keep that in mind!

The small Handon mixed platter (400g): how do the pork belly and kkodeulsal taste?

We ordered the small Handon mixed platter of pork belly and kkodeulsal (pork jowl-area cut), jjagyechi (Jjapagetti noodles + fried egg + cheese), and mul-naengmyeon for dessert. A big spread!

Taedon says it uses only carefully selected Handon, and the meat quality really stands out. Here comes the small Handon mixed platter of Taedon's signature pork belly and kkodeulsal! It's 400g.

The pork belly is rich, juicy and nutty. And Taedon has my favorite, kkodeulsal! It's springy and chewy, so you keep reaching for more.

Jjagyechi on the grill with the meat

Taedon's jjagyechi (₩6,000) is a dreamy combo of cheese and a fried egg on firm, chewy noodles. Put it on the grill and eat it with the meat, and the sweet-savory Jjapagetti goes really well with the rich meat.

Kkodeulsal on jjolmyeon on flat mandu

Kkodeulsal on sweet-and-sour bibim jjolmyeon on a Seomun Market flat mandu is another combo I'd totally recommend.

Dessert mul-naengmyeon and the review-event ice cream

I finished with a dessert mul-naengmyeon (₩6,000) in a cool broth~~

I also had dessert ice cream through a review event, and I didn't expect such a generous serving 😬 Kadayif and Oreo crumbs were sprinkled on top, so with the chewy, sweet ice cream it was a perfect dinner.

Taedon Geomdan Sageori Branch is a BBQ place where you can enjoy juicy pork belly and kkodeulsal made with good-quality Handon.
