Last-time seating and eel-grilling lesson: Songrim Bok Jangeo, Siheung

In short

Songrim Bok Jangeo is an unlimited-refill freshwater eel and grilled meat restaurant on Dasommaeul 2-gil in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung. Visiting during the last seating, the writer grilled eel, pork belly, and chicken neck meat from the self-serve bar while an ajumma (auntie) staff member personally showed how to trim and grill the eel. Parking was easy with space in front of the store and an underground lot, and a bowl of makguksu (buckwheat noodles) rounded out the meal.

Table spread for unlimited-refill eel in Siheung

I went and had a really solid body-boosting meal at Songrim Bok Jangeo, Siheung's go-to spot for unlimited-refill eel 🐟❤️ The weather's been so hot lately and I kept feeling drained, so I decided it was time for a proper energy-boosting meal and went out for eel.

This time I visited Songrim Bok Jangeo, known as a go-to spot in Siheung for unlimited-refill eel! I really like eel, so I went in with high expectations at the word "unlimited refill," and it turned out even better than I expected, so I left satisfied.

Is parking convenient? Yes, right in front of the store

Parking available right in front of the store!

Parking space in front of the store

What I liked most was how easy parking was! These days, even when the food at a good restaurant is great, you often end up stressed about parking. But at Songrim Bok Jangeo there's a space right in front of the store, plus an underground parking lot, so it was easy to visit by car. Being able to walk straight into the restaurant without worrying about parking turned out to be a bigger perk than I expected.

Unlimited refill prices and the table setting fee

The unlimited refill price for adults is currently ₩29,900, and for children (elementary school age) it's ₩14,000, with adults also charged a separate table setting fee. I'd recommend checking the menu and prices before you visit!

A good spot for a family meal or a group gathering, too

The dining room itself is fairly spacious, so it was comfortable for a family visit, and the atmosphere wasn't stressful even with several people eating together. It's not just for grown-ups who love eel — there are grilled meat options too, so it works well as a family outing. Group seating and reservations are available, and it seemed like plenty of people choose this place for family gatherings or work dinners.

Unlimited refills for meat, too — not just eel

Once you sit down, a basic spread is served first, and after that you help yourself to as much as you like from the self-serve bar.

The freshwater eel I was most looking forward to was there, along with pork belly and chicken neck meat, so when I got a little tired of eating just eel, it was nice to grill some meat alongside it.

The eel in particular, grilled on the pan until golden brown, was savory on the outside and thick and tender on the inside — great texture. Topped with shredded ginger and dipped in the sauce, it's honestly the best…❤️

The eel-trimming and grilling lesson I got during the last seating

I visited during the very last seating haha, so the ajumma (auntie) staff member showed me how it's done! It's normally self-serve, so you're supposed to follow the instructions written on the sign, but I clearly wasn't managing it, so she explained everything and I ended up learning exactly how to trim the eel too!

An expert's touch really is different, haha. You have to grill the eel until it's nice and crisp — that's when it's truly delicious! I was a little worried that with unlimited refills the eel might be too thin or low quality, but the flesh was thicker than expected and genuinely fun to eat.

And since you can bring over as much eel and meat as you want from the self-serve bar, I think this place suits anyone who wants to eat their fill.

I also ordered makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) and enjoyed it properly alongside the eel~!

Final thoughts

I'd been wanting to eat eel properly for a while, and I loved that the unlimited refills let me eat as much as I wanted without holding back at Songrim Bok Jangeo! What I really liked in particular was how easy the parking was. Being able to park right in front of the store, plus the underground lot, made it easy to visit by car, and having pork belly and chicken neck meat alongside the eel gave a good range of menu choices too.

I'd recommend this place to anyone in Siheung looking for a great eel restaurant, anyone who wants to eat their fill of eel, or anyone looking for a family dining spot with easy parking. 🐟❤️ Next time, I think it'd be nice to bring my parents along for another round of body-boosting food :)
