Dumburger Yeouido is an American retro-style handmade burger restaurant near Yeouido and Saetgang stations in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The day after Chuseok, after a walk through quiet Yeouido, the writer came alone, sat at the bar and ordered a pizza cheeseburger set (19,400 won) and coleslaw (3,500 won) at the kiosk, and was happy with the hefty burger loaded with pepperoni cheese and bacon. The day after Chuseok, looking for a solo lunch in a quiet Yeouido

The day after the Chuseok (Korean autumn harvest holiday) break, I took a walk around Yeouido and ate lunch alone at Dumburger Yeouido (덤버거 여의도점), grabbing a handmade burger. Yeouido is usually packed with office workers, but with the holiday the streets were much quieter than usual. Walking through a Yeouido with so few people felt pretty different. After strolling slowly for a while, Dumburger Yeouido is where I ended up for lunch.

I was on my own that day, so I wanted somewhere easy to eat solo, and a handmade burger seemed perfect: simple to choose and just right for one person. It also looked like a good option for office workers hunting for lunch near Yeouido Station, or anyone looking for a place to eat alone.

The big DUMB BURGER sign and lights make the exterior stand out right away. It looks like a sign you could easily spot in the evening too.

There was also a menu board with real burger photos by the entrance. It covers a wide range, from the cheeseburger to the double and triple cheeseburgers, plus the Dumburger and a chicken sandwich. Since you can choose by photo, deciding what to eat is easy even on a first visit. Seeing those thick, handmade-style burgers made me hungry before I even went in.

Is Dumburger Yeouido comfortable for eating alone?

Dumburger Yeouido has a long bar table with round stools, so finding a seat is easy even when you come alone. The inside is more fun than the outside: white and black tiles combined with stainless steel and yellow lighting give it the feel of an old American burger joint, given a modern twist.

When eating alone, taking up a big table can feel awkward, so bar seats like these put me much more at ease. The layout also suits a quick solo lunch in Yeouido before heading back out.

Retro graphics, a sink and the RETURN area

It was fun just looking around the walls. Retro DUMB BURGER graphics and posters are up, so even this small space has a clear personality.

There's also a separate sink on one side of the shop for washing your hands. Since you eat handmade burgers with your hands, I liked having that.

Even the RETURN area, where you bring back your tray, matches the design, so the whole place feels tied together by one concept. It's a pretty fun burger spot for photos too.

Dumburger pizza cheeseburger set price and how to order

You order at a kiosk at Dumburger Yeouido. The pizza cheeseburger set I chose showed ₩19,400 with options. It came with fries and a drink, and I added coleslaw for ₩3,500. Everything is cooked as soon as you order, so you get the burger fresh, which is exactly what you'd expect from a handmade burger place.

Dumburger reportedly grills its own patties and fries its own chicken in the shop. The signage explained that ingredients are prepared and trimmed every day and cooked only once an order comes in. Patties are cooked to keep them juicy and textured, and the chicken is made in a thin, crispy style. The sauces also use recipes the brand developed itself to bring out the flavor of the ingredients. It made me look forward to the kind of charm handmade burgers have that fast-food burgers don't.

A full spread on a yellow tray

After a short wait, the pizza cheeseburger, fries, coleslaw and drink arrived together on a yellow tray. The black-and-white checkered paper with the repeating Dumburger logo made the American burger-joint mood come alive the moment the food arrived.

The fries were generous, and the purple cabbage in the coleslaw I ordered separately added some nice color. It was a meal for one, but with everything laid out it felt pretty hearty.

How does the Dumburger pizza cheeseburger taste?

The pizza cheeseburger at Dumburger Yeouido is a hefty handmade burger with pepperoni cheese, bacon and pickles on the patty. I started with the pizza cheeseburger, the one I was most curious about. Between the glossy, soft bun sat a thick patty and pepperoni cheese. With bacon and pickles on top too, one bite delivered lots of flavors and textures at once.

The melted cheese in particular blends with the patty for a rich flavor. The pickles add a sour note between the heavy patty and cheese, keeping everything balanced.

I came craving a handmade burger, and it felt like I'd met a properly hefty one.

Fries and coleslaw

The fries were a basic, no-nonsense side that goes well with a burger. A burger alone is fine, but on a hungry day you could add a side to the set and really feast.

Having coleslaw between bites cut the greasiness. The crunchy cabbage and its tangy, soft flavor refreshed my palate between bites of the rich cheeseburger. It's a pretty filling lineup for one person, more than enough for a lunch.

A solo burger after a Yeouido walk: how was it?

With bar seats that are easy to sit at alone and kiosk ordering, eating solo at Dumburger Yeouido was low-stress. Walking a Yeouido that was quieter than usual thanks to Chuseok, then relaxing over a handmade burger by myself, made for a pretty good day. Above all, the hearty taste of a burger made right after you order stayed with me.

If you're looking for a lunch spot near Yeouido Station or a burger place where you can eat comfortably alone, it's worth a stop. It's great for a weekday office lunch, and on weekends or holidays it's a good place for a filling meal during a Yeouido walk.
