Gasan Korean BBQ team dinner, grilled for you: Choi Woo-young Gogiya

In short

Choi Woo-young Gogiya (최우영고기야) is a Korean BBQ restaurant in the basement of Daeryung Post Tower 6, right outside exits 2 and 4 of Gasan Digital Complex Station in Seoul, where the staff grill the meat in the kitchen and bring it to your table. On a hot summer evening after work, the writer ordered pork belly (₩10,000 per 200g), galbisal (beef rib meat) and marinated galbisal (₩14,000 per 150g each). There was no grilling to do and little meat smell in the room, and a big earthenware pot of doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and marinated crab came free. Choi Woo-young Gogiya is a solid pick for anyone looking for a team dinner spot near Gasan Digital Complex.

What kind of Korean BBQ restaurant is Choi Woo-young Gogiya?

Choi Woo-young Gogiya (최우영고기야) is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Gasan Digital Complex Station that grills the meat in the kitchen and serves it to you. Grilling your own meat on a hot day like today is exhausting, right? Here the meat comes out already grilled, so eating was really easy. Maybe that's why there were lots of company dinner groups, and the meat smell inside was milder too, so I had a very comfortable meal. Here's my review for anyone looking for a Korean BBQ place near Gasan Digital Complex Station!

Choi Woo-young Gogiya is in the basement of Daeryung Post Tower 6, right in front of exits 2 and 4 of Gasan Digital Complex Station. Take the escalator on the ground floor of the building down and you're right there, so it's much easier to find.

Choi Woo-young Gogiya atmosphere: good for a team dinner?

The restaurant was spacious and comfortable, which I liked. I went straight after work, so plenty of seats were still open, but by the time we finished it was packed. Lots of restaurants in Gasan Digital Complex are empty in the evening, so a crowd at dinner? That says it all. As a place that grills for you, it seemed to draw lots of evening company dinners, and even when it got busy the chatter didn't echo, which I liked even more.

Free sides: doenjang jjigae and marinated crab

Choi Woo-young Gogiya gives you marinated crab (yangnyeom gejang) and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) as basic side dishes. When I heard "free stew," I figured it'd be a mini pot, but it was a giant earthenware pot!! And it was packed with ingredients. The marinated crab that came with it wasn't a mini portion either; it was properly full of meat, and it was seriously delicious.

Self-serve corner: radish bibimbap

If you need more side dishes, use the self-serve corner at Choi Woo-young Gogiya. They set it up so you can make radish bibimbap (mixed rice with seasoned radish strips), so I tried it. It tasted good, of course, and it calmed my very hungry stomach before the meat and got my appetite going!

Suddenly, present time from my husband! There's often a flea market in the plaza at Gasan Digital Complex Station, and he bought this there while waiting for me, haha. So cute of him~

Choi Woo-young Gogiya menu prices and what we ordered

  • Pork belly (200g) ₩10,000
  • Galbisal (150g) ₩14,000
  • Marinated galbisal (150g) ₩14,000
  • Soju ₩5,000

Since the stew and marinated crab come as basic sides, I assumed the meat would be pricey, but Choi Woo-young Gogiya's prices are seriously kind! To try a variety, we ordered one each of pork belly 200g, galbisal 150g and marinated galbisal 150g. The meat is fully grilled in the kitchen and comes out, and you just warm it on the grill at the table. On a hot summer day you're worn out even after a whole day in an air-conditioned office, right? With the meat coming out grilled like this, my body felt so relaxed!! The best!!

Galbisal (beef rib meat): tender and cooked just right

I started with the unmarinated beef galbisal. It came out tender and cooked just right, not tough at all, with a soft texture.

Marinated galbisal: subtle seasoning, my favorite

Next, the marinated galbi!! The seasoning isn't harsh, just a gentle flavor that soaks well into the meat, perfect when you want a little sweetness after work. The marinated galbi was a bit more my taste..!

Lightly seasoned marinated galbisal

Pork belly: thinly sliced and great for lettuce wraps

The pork belly at Choi Woo-young Gogiya is on the thin side, so it was perfect for ssam (lettuce wraps)! I like stuffing lots of things into one wrap, so I added seasoned radish, scallion salad and dried radish kimchi, and my mouth was so full of flavor, haha.

You can't have meat without soju, right?

Extra orders come grilled too, finished with fried rice

We ordered one more marinated galbi. At Choi Woo-young Gogiya, extra orders also arrive grilled, so it's not hot and there's no greasy meat smell, which is nice~

We finished by making fried rice on the grill ourselves, and once again we ate until we were stuffed~! So full!
