A Korean meal at Lotte Department Store Incheon: Hantiok
Hantiok is a Korean restaurant on the basement floor of Lotte Department Store Incheon Branch at 35 Yeonnam-ro, Michuhol-gu, Incheon. When you go shopping at Lotte Department Store and try to fit in a meal too, it's oddly hard to pick something.

There's plenty of tasty food around, but on shopping days I sometimes crave a proper bowl of rice with warm broth rather than something greasy. This time I went to Hantiok.
Even from photos it had that neat, tidy Korean-restaurant feel, and eating there confirmed it — the food wasn't overly seasoned and felt clean. Honestly, it's one of the more satisfying Korean meals I've had at a department store. If you're looking for a Korean restaurant at Lotte Department Store Incheon, it's worth a visit.
Hantiok's menu and atmosphere
Hantiok centers on gukbap (soup with rice) and guksi (noodle soup). Menu models are displayed out front, so you can see what's coming before you even go in.

Between gukbap, guksi and bibim noodles, there's something for every taste. One line in particular caught my eye.

It said only Hanwoo grade 1+ and 1++ beef is used in cooking. For gukbap or meat dishes, the quality of the meat itself matters a lot, so hearing this raised my expectations.
The interior was nice too — clean overall, as you'd expect from a restaurant inside a department store, with a Korean-restaurant feel that wasn't overly traditional. Wood tones and a lattice pattern come together for a tidy, comfortable look.
It seemed fine for a meal with parents, and not intimidating for eating alone while shopping either. So it should suit anyone looking for a Korean restaurant at Lotte Department Store Incheon.
The table setting itself was a highlight at Hantiok

My first thought on getting the food was, "This is really tidy."

Hantiok sets a neat table with brass-style tableware. Along with the main dish, you get kimchi, pickles, jeotgal (salted seafood), and wrap vegetables to go with it.
I also liked that it wasn't the hanjeongsik (full-course Korean set) style with so many side dishes you can't touch them all — everything paired well with the main dish. It photographs beautifully too. And honestly, eating it, the flavor impressed me even more than the photos. In short: delicious, clean food.
If you like meat, go for the bossam set

The meat was neatly arranged with a generous side of kimchi. Taking a bite of meat with kimchi on top confirmed again that combination matters with this kind of food.
The meat was tender and mild, and the kimchi cut through any richness. Wrapping the meat in lettuce with ssamjang (dipping sauce) and garlic was also delicious. Best of all, even though it's a meat dish, it didn't feel overly heavy afterward.
Meat, rice, soup and kimchi together — this might be the most comfortable kind of meal for Korean diners. It's a good choice for a meal with parents while shopping at the mall. For anyone searching for a Korean restaurant at Lotte Department Store Incheon who wants a hearty meal over Western or Japanese food, I'd recommend this.
The fragrant gondre rice and warm broth

Another menu I liked was the rice loaded with gondre (aster) greens. It comes in a large brass bowl with rice and greens together, and just looking at it feels healthy. Mixing it well and taking a bite, the greens' aroma rose gently and paired well with the rice.

Rather than strong seasoning, it felt like the ingredients' own flavor was allowed to shine. Paired with the milky broth, it worked really well. A spoonful of broth, a bite of namul rice — it left my stomach feeling settled.
These days a lot of restaurant food tastes good but leaves you reaching for water afterward — but the dishes here overall didn't feel overly seasoned. So even after finishing a full meal, it wasn't heavy.
Delicious yet clean food. If I had to describe this meal at Hantiok, that's exactly the phrase.
On a hot day, it has to be makguksu

And since it's summer, makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) is a must. It comes in a large brass bowl with cool broth and buckwheat noodles, topped with cucumber, vegetables, seaweed flakes, and egg. It looks refreshing just to see it.

Lifting the noodles, the distinctive color of buckwheat noodles looked appetizing. Mixing the broth and noodles well and taking a bite, it was perfect for a hot day. It would also pair nicely if ordered alongside a meat dish.
Especially in summer, walking around a department store adds up more steps than you'd think. When you're worn out from shopping, a cool bowl of makguksu feels like a real break. Having options from hearty dishes like meat and gukbap to something cool and refreshing like makguksu was also a plus.
Good for when family tastes differ

If food is too salty or strongly seasoned, the first few bites are great but it gets tiring by the end. On the other hand, if it's too bland, gukbap loses its signature satisfaction.
Hantiok's overall style leans clean, which gave a strong impression of comfortable Korean food you can eat easily with rice. That makes it a decent option for family meals with parents too.
Younger visitors can order and share makguksu or bossam together, while older visitors can choose familiar options like gukbap or guksi. This matters more than you'd expect when family members have different tastes eating out.
The advantage of a department store restaurant: convenience
Taste matters, but a convenient location is a big plus too. You don't have to leave the mall and go hunting for a restaurant after shopping. On hot or rainy days, that's genuinely convenient.
Especially in summer heat like this, even walking a few minutes outside is tough, so being able to shop and eat in one place is great in itself. If you're looking for a Korean restaurant at Lotte Department Store Incheon, Hantiok is worth considering not just for taste but for accessibility and convenience.
Not flashy, but a meal you think back on
What I felt eating here is that comfort is Korean food's real appeal. Some days you want something special like pasta or steak, but other days warm broth, rice, well-fermented kimchi, and a few pieces of meat are enough.
Hantiok was exactly that kind of place. Rather than being memorable for flashy or bold flavors, it leaves you with the feeling of having eaten a really good meal. The neatly served brass-bowl food and clean interior suited each other well. The food photographed nicely, and the actual taste was satisfying too. It's also a plus that the menu isn't hard to choose from, whether for kids or the parents' generation.
If you want Korean food at Lotte Department Store Incheon

Department stores have so many menu options — pork cutlet, pasta, sushi, Chinese food, and more. But after eating out a few times, what you end up craving is rice and soup. On those days, Hantiok is a solid choice for a Korean restaurant at Lotte Department Store Incheon.
It suits days you want clean broth and rice, days you want a comfortable meal with parents, and days you want meat and makguksu together. Above all, what I liked most about this meal was that it was tidy and comfortable rather than heavily seasoned.
Even after eating my fill, I didn't feel like I'd overdone it — just that I'd had a good meal. That might be the real appeal of Korean food. Next time I'm shopping at Lotte Department Store and craving something warm and filling, this is a place I'd want to come back to.
