I visited Halls Gimbap in Seocho, a great spot for a solo meal near Gyodae Station :) It's the main branch, so the food was great and the owner was so kind. I had a really good meal.
Is Halls Gimbap Main Branch the former Auto Gimbap near Gyodae Station?
Yes! Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점) is the former Gyodae Station Auto Gimbap (오토김밥) under a new name. If you remember Auto Gimbap, the gimbap (seaweed rice roll) is guaranteed delicious haha

What gimbap does Halls Gimbap in Seocho have?
Halls Gimbap in Seocho is popular for unusual gimbap you can't easily find elsewhere! There's so much good stuff that I always struggle to choose.

As if they knew how I feel, Halls Gimbap Main Branch lets you order half-and-half rolls!!! I've never seen half-and-half gimbap before, and it's such a great idea T_T
Besides gimbap, there's dakgangjeong (sweet crispy chicken), nurungji tteokbokki (scorched-rice rice cakes), and even cabbage protein tteokbokki you can eat while on a diet! Every item has good reviews, so whatever you pick, no regrets!!!!
What if one gimbap roll isn't enough for a solo meal near Gyodae Station?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch has small cup ramen. One roll is a little too little when you're eating alone, but ordering another dish is too much food, so the small cup ramen is perfect for those people!!!
They have Jin Ramen, Sesame Ramen, Sari Gomtang, Ojjamppong, Shrimp Soup, Yeol Ramen, Wangttukkeong, Fried Udon, Yukgaejang and more, plus cup noodles and even Carbo Buldak. Crazy good sense, right? haha
For drinks, besides soda they have pumpkin red bean tea, Almond Breeze and zero-sugar drinks, so I was impressed by the owner's thoughtfulness.
Is Halls Gimbap Main Branch takeout only, or can you dine in?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch does both takeout and dine-in.
It's a popular spot near Gyodae Station and Seocho Station, and nearby offices order a lot through Baemin delivery, but it's also nice to eat in the shop.
This photo was around 2 PM?! At lunchtime there's a wait, and the Baemin orders never stop haha. Even through all that, the owner and staff were all so kind. I was touched!!!
There's a bar table that's good for eating alone, and tables for groups too.
A terrace in a snack bar, can you believe it haha. There are outdoor tables beside nicely tended plants, so you can have lunch with a whole different feel.
How did the half-and-half Halls Gimbap and double cheese egg gimbap taste?
I couldn't decide which gimbap to get, so I ordered the half-and-half: Halls Gimbap + double cheese egg gimbap :) It came stacked in two layers.
The rice is thin and there are lots of vegetables, so it's popular as a diet meal too! See how fresh every ingredient looks :) It's a popular lunch spot, and you can tell it turns tables fast!
The vegetables aren't stir-fried to mush, so it feels a bit like salad gimbap, yet it isn't too light either, which made it delicious.
Halls Gimbap: egg wrapped around fish cake
Halls Gimbap has egg wrapped around fish cake, and the fish cake seasoning isn't artificial, so everything blended together really well!
Double cheese egg gimbap: rich cheese and thick egg layer
The double cheese egg gimbap had such a good cheese aroma T_T The other ingredients aren't heavily seasoned, so the cheese came through strongly, which I loved.
The egg layer is quite thick, yet there was no eggy smell at all, so it was delicious.
The portion is surprisingly big, so if it had been just average I'd have left about two pieces. But it was so good I couldn't!!!! I finished every last piece.
How is Halls Gimbap Main Branch's fried chicken different from the dakgangjeong?
The dakgangjeong at Halls Gimbap Main Branch is good too, but today I went for plain fried chicken. Three sauces!!!
Maybe because it's chilled Korean chicken thigh meat, there was no gamey smell at all, and the frying was really clean!
If you've only had the dakgangjeong combo, definitely try the fried chicken once! And it's ₩10,000, so the portion is pretty decent, right?!
