Gyodae Station gimbap shop: 10am phone order, 15-min pickup, Halls
In short
Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점) is a gimbap (seaweed rice roll) and dakgangjeong (sweet, crunchy fried chicken) snack bar in Seocho, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Gyodae Station Exit 1, in the spot where Auto Gimbap used to be. A regular since the Auto Gimbap days phoned in a large Halls dakgangjeong (20,000 won) and a Spam gimbap (6,000 won) around 10am to avoid the lunch rush, picked them up 15 minutes later and ate at the outdoor seats. The name has changed, but Halls Gimbap Main Branch's crispy dakgangjeong and thick Spam gimbap are still a top solo-meal pick near Gyodae Station.

Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점) is my pick for a Gyodae Station eatery, a solo meal, and a Gyodae lunch.

Halls Gimbap Main Branch hours and amenities
Halls Gimbap Main Branch is open Mon–Fri 08:00–20:00 and Saturday 08:00–15:00, and closed every Sunday. Takeout, delivery, reservations, Wi-Fi and parking are all available.
Halls Gimbap Main Branch near Gyodae Station. Back when it was Auto Gimbap, this place was always packed with delivery motorbikes and customers around the clock, a total Gyodae Station favorite, and I finally came back for a solo meal after a long time!

Where is Halls Gimbap, and when is it least crowded?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a 5-minute walk from Gyodae Station Exit 1. It gets really, really busy at lunchtime, so I deliberately avoided the peak and went around 10am.

What's the solo seating like at Halls Gimbap near Gyodae Station?
Inside Halls Gimbap Main Branch there are lots of single-person bar tables, plus 4- and 6-person tables, so it works for eating alone or with a group. The interior is clean and a nice size! Fitting for a solo-meal spot, there are plenty of bar tables for one, and also 4- and 6-person tables that are great for coming with friends.

There are outdoor seats too, so when the weather's nice, eating ramen with your gimbap on the terrace is the best 🩷

I was a big regular back in the Auto Gimbap days, so I was like, huh?! when it turned into Halls Gimbap, but the name doesn't really matter. It's still a total Gyodae Station gem, same as before, and that's a fact! 🩷

Can you eat ramen at Halls Gimbap?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch has a wide variety of cup ramen inside, great to go with gimbap. The ramen selection is seriously huge, so it's perfect alongside gimbap! Not just soup ramen but also Buldak and Jjapaghetti (black bean noodles) >_< and the cup sizes range from small to large, which I love!

How to order at Halls Gimbap: kiosk or phone ahead
You can order at the in-store kiosk, or call ahead. It was early, around 10am, and nobody was eating inside, but phone and delivery orders kept pouring in like crazy at this Gyodae gimbap favorite.

Halls Gimbap menu: new half-and-half options
Since it became Halls Gimbap, the menu has gotten more varied and there are lots of half-and-half options, which I love. You can even get gimbap as half-and-half of two kinds you choose, and the fact is the dakgangjeong here is insanely good... It's a gimbap shop, but the chicken here is the real deal!

I ordered takeout: a large Halls dakgangjeong and one Spam gimbap roll!

I phoned in the order before visiting, the owner told me to come in 15 minutes, and when I got there I got the finished food right away.

The dakgangjeong was fresh out of the fryer, so it was properly hot and the smell was insane... I'd ordered takeout, but the smell was unbearable, so I sat at the outdoor seats to have just one bite each 🩷

Halls dakgangjeong large (₩20,000): how does it taste?
The large Halls dakgangjeong at Halls Gimbap Main Branch is ₩20,000. It comes in small and large, and you can do half-and-half with gimbap. At lunchtime I used to eat tons of the half gimbap, half dakgangjeong combo, but today I wanted lots of chicken, so I went with the large 🩷

Gangneung Mangseok Dakgangjeong? All the famous dakgangjeong places, step aside. Halls Gimbap's chicken is seriously crazy crunchy, and the coating and sauce flavor are out of this world, so good T_T
And the trick here is eating the dakgangjeong with their signature green chili pepper. It's a bit spicier than an oi-gochu (cucumber pepper) but way milder than a cheongyang chili, so it just... goes so well together.

Halls Gimbap Spam gimbap (₩6,000): why it's my top pick
The Spam gimbap at Halls Gimbap Main Branch is ₩6,000. There are lots of gimbap kinds, but my number-one pick at Halls is the Spam gimbap!

Real Spam is packed into the roll in a super thick slab, and the fluffy tamago (Japanese-style rolled omelet) is also really thick.

One bite and the real Spam flavor, soft egg and crunchy cucumber together are so good. It's not greasy at all, it's refreshing and fresh, and the seasoning is just right T_T just a really tasty gimbap..🩷
If you're looking for a solo meal near Gyodae Station, I highly recommend Halls Gimbap! The dakgangjeong is so delicious that I recommend the gimbap + dakgangjeong set!!
