Songdo chicken kalguksu spot with no break time, half chicken: Eonyang
In short
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch (언양닭칼국수 인천송도점) is a chicken kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Songdo, Yeonsu, Incheon, that stays open with no afternoon break time. The writer, a regular every summer, came back for the signature half-chicken kalguksu, with a whole half chicken in the bowl, and the kimchi made in-house at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu. Verdict: thanks to a broth so rich it is almost sticky and noodles made in-house, Eonyang Dak Kalguksu is a Songdo lunch spot worth returning to again and again.

Why does Eonyang Dak Kalguksu in Songdo keep calling me back?
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch (언양닭칼국수 인천송도점) is a Songdo restaurant the writer used to visit a lot in summer. The chicken kalguksu broth is so rich it's almost sticky (?), and it's so good that the craving comes back regularly. I went again this time, was blown away as always, and so here's my review, hehehe

When is Eonyang Dak Kalguksu in Songdo less crowded? Break time and parking
The restaurant has no break time, so you can visit at any hour, and you can park in the lot right in front. It's famous as a lunch spot, so at lunchtime or dinnertime it's always full.
Going by my big data so far, there are quite a few customers even around 2 to 3 p.m. Still, since there's no break time you can go whenever you like, and that's a huge plus if you ask me. Parking isn't hard either, so it's easy to get to on foot or by car.
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu menu: what else is there besides chicken kalguksu?
Besides the main chicken kalguksu, there are braised chicken (jjimdak) and boiled pork (suyuk). In summer they sold cold chicken noodles (chogye dak kalguksu) as a seasonal special, but summer's over, so sadly they're not selling it anymore (ㅠㅠ)
Their cold chicken noodles are seriously the real deal and can blow away the summer heat in one go, so I'm really sad about it... I'll have to wait for next summer. I order the main one-bowl dish a lot, so I haven't tried the braised chicken, but after tasting the kalguksu, you just feel the braised chicken must be properly good too.

Seating and reservations at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo
You can reserve a table in advance here. When I visited, all the window seats were reserved. If you're meeting someone, I recommend booking ahead~

And the other side was packed like this, a total sea of people. I went around 1 p.m. and it was still full of lunch customers~ It seems like lots of office workers and residents from the area come to eat here. I can't even imagine how crowded it gets in winter, when everyone wants hot soup.

How is the kimchi at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu? Spicy and non-spicy
The kimchi comes in a spicy version and a non-spicy version, so you can pick by taste. They make it in the restaurant with Korean-grown cabbage, so no need to worry about Chinese kimchi, haha. The kimchi at this Songdo lunch spot is amazing. I always go for the non-spicy one!

I love this bright red, delicious-looking kimchi so much. It goes perfectly with the clear broth of the chicken kalguksu. I bet it'd be great just wrapped in white rice, too. The kimchi is seriously, insanely good. It's no exaggeration that kimchi decides a kalguksu place, and this kimchi is the real thing.

Is the signature half-chicken kalguksu enough food?
The half-chicken kalguksu (dak banmari kalguksu) is the signature dish, with a whole half chicken in the bowl. Extra chicken is only ₩4,000, so if you think you'll need more, go ahead and add it. For me this is always enough to fill me up.

The chicken is cut right in half and the whole half goes into the bowl, so you get the drumstick, the body meat and even the wing, the full set. Eaten with that deep, deep chicken broth, it's honestly so well made.

Why the noodles are so chewy: made in-house
The noodles at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu are made in-house. Both the cold chicken noodles and the chicken kalguksu had unusually chewy noodles, and now I know why: they make them themselves! You'll notice the difference once you try them..❤️ It's not a revisit favorite for nothing. The prices are decent too, so it's an affordable visit.

Verdict on the chicken kalguksu broth at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo
This is the best chicken kalguksu I've ever had, the kind where you wonder how the broth even tastes like this. There's a really subtle pepper flavor that goes well with the broth. Kimchi, chicken and kalguksu noodles make a perfect three-beat combo, which makes it even better.
Cold wind is just starting to blow, so enjoy a happy meal with a bowl of chicken kalguksu that leaves you full and warm.
