Open-run takeout: pork bone soup with extra broth in Sejong

Pork bone soup in Sejong means Chungsilok. Whenever I'm craving it, I head to Chungsilok — this time I packed it to go 😊 Chungsilok's pork bone soup has a clean, light broth, so my stomach never hurts after eating it.

Location and parking at Chungsilok

Chungsilok, a gamjatang restaurant famous in Sejong, is on the 1st floor! You can park in the building's underground lot.

You even get a discount on gamjatang takeout! Both gamjatang and pork bone soup are available to go :)

Hours and waiting

Hours are 10:30–21:00, with a break time from 14:30–17:00. If you go during the lunch peak there's a wait — it's that kind of popular spot — so I recommend an open run!

Even though I did an open run, there were already some customers! The inside has plenty of tables and is clean.

Menu and dine-in vs takeout prices

There are only two menu items: pork bone soup and gamjatang! That's basically a certified local favorite, right?

I packed three servings of pork bone soup! That came to 27,000 won total, and takeout doesn't include rice.

They packed all three servings together, and when I asked for more broth, they packed some extra separately! Though honestly there's already so much broth that you probably don't even need to ask haha. They didn't give kkakdugi (radish kimchi) by default, so ask for it if you want some!

Loads of bones, loads of napa cabbage, loads of broth. Chungsilok's broth has a somewhat clear look to it! Looks delicious, right?

Once I scooped out just the broth, you could really see how much meat there was! Chungsilok's pork bone soup isn't just bones — there's a lot of meat attached to the bones, and it's super tender too.

How it tasted boiled at home

I boiled the three servings of pork bone soup at high heat — since it's already been cooked once, you only need to bring it to a light boil. It's loaded with bones and napa cabbage.

I scooped out a bowl to try, and it tasted exactly the same as eating it in-store haha. The broth has a garlicky aroma, a bit spicy, refreshing, and really clean-tasting. Not that heavy MSG flavor — genuinely delicious.

There's really so much meat! And it falls right off the bone easily, which is great — super tender with zero gamy smell. It's delicious every single time.

My verdict after trying the takeout

Chungsilok's pork bone soup isn't overly seasoned and stays light, so it's always easy to eat — highly recommend! This was my first time trying it as takeout, and it tasted exactly the same as eating in-store, plus all you have to do is boil it, so it's convenient. I'll be ordering it often from now on!
