Yangyang floating café with pulpy grapefruit ade: Cafe Dunchi
In short
Cafe Dunchi is a floating café on the Namdaecheon River in Yangyang-eup, Yangyang, Gangwon, run together with the Namdaecheon Water Leisure Center. At Cafe Dunchi the writer drove a 30-minute electric boat (30,000 won for up to 4 people, 35,000 won for up to 6), sipped drinks on board, and enjoyed a grapefruit ade with real pulp and a walk along the reed path. Cafe Dunchi is worth a stop for the café alone, and adding the boat ride makes it a solid thing to do in Yangyang.

Wondering which café to visit in Yangyang? I went to Cafe Dunchi (카페 둔치), which runs together with the Namdaecheon water leisure center and is apparently the only floating café in Yangyang.

If you're looking for things to do in Yangyang, I recommend adding the electric boat ride too. It deserves a spot on your Yangyang must-visit list, so here's my review!
Where is Cafe Dunchi?
Cafe Dunchi is at 295 Ilchul-ro, Yangyang-eup, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon. It's 5 minutes by car from Naksansa and Sol Beach Yangyang, so it fits easily into a trip itinerary.

There's a signboard at the entrance, so it was easy to find the way to the water leisure center and Cafe Dunchi. The building floats on the water, and its colorful exterior really stands out even from far away.

Cafe Dunchi electric boat price and how to ride
The electric boat ride lasts 30 minutes: ₩30,000 for up to 4 people and ₩35,000 for up to 6. It seemed like they run more water activities in summer, but I was able to take the electric boat when I visited.

The price is per boat, so if you split it among your group it feels reasonable.

Before boarding, a staff member handed out life jackets in each size and explained the safety rules carefully.

Is it easy to drive on your first try?
You drive the electric boat yourself and cruise around the lake. The controls are easy, so even as a first-timer I had no trouble at all. You can bring drinks on board too, so drifting around slowly with a coffee was so much fun.

There's a timer, so keeping track of time was easy, and I could take a relaxed lap around the lake while sipping the drinks I'd brought.

The Namdaecheon scenery from the boat
The view from the lake on the electric boat was far prettier than I expected. The surrounding mountains and the café building were reflected in the water like a painting.

Seeing the Cafe Dunchi building from the water felt different too. It's a view you can only get from a boat, which made it extra special.

Along the way I even saw fish jumping out of the water, which was amazing. The water was cleaner than I expected and felt natural and untouched, which I loved.

Cafe Dunchi menu and the grapefruit ade
Inside Cafe Dunchi is cozy with a great atmosphere, maybe because of all the plants. The lake is right outside the windows, so the view is lovely from any seat.

The menu has a good variety of coffee, ades and teas, and prices are about the same as an ordinary café, so no pressure there.

I ordered an Americano and a grapefruit ade, and both were so good.

The grapefruit ade seems to be made with house-made syrup (cheong), because you could chew the actual pulp, and it was really delicious. It tasted like natural fruit rather than artificial sweetness, which I liked even more.

Overall I liked it so much that I think I'll come back with my family next time.
Cafe Dunchi tips: reed path and parking
Next to Cafe Dunchi there's a reed-forest walking path, and being able to stop at the café and then take a walk was the best.

It would be good just for the café, and adding the boat ride makes it a perfect Yangyang outing. If you're deciding what to see in Yangyang, I really recommend Cafe Dunchi.
The parking lot is big too, so it was easy to come by car. I recommend it as a drive course as well!!
