Hangover lunch: chicken jjamppong with soft tofu in Yangyang
In short
Dongne Oppa Dak Jjamppong is a Chinese restaurant in a container building on Namun 6-gil in Yangyang, serving only chicken jjamppong (spicy seafood-style noodle soup) and side jajangmyeon. On a last-minute Yangyang trip, the writer stopped for a hangover lunch before heading back to Seoul, ordering chicken jjamppong noodles, chicken jjamppong rice, and side jajangmyeon, and found the soup topped with soft tofu and chicken to be clean and spicy without any stomach discomfort. The verdict: a definite repeat stop on the next winter Yangyang trip.

- A great hangover lunch recommendation before leaving Yangyang
A hidden gem found on a spontaneous Yangyang trip

The uniqueness of a container building, plus a spacious parking lot — a great start.
My partner and I were on a date night off work when we decided, on a whim, to head to Yangyang. Talk about being extremely spontaneous... is this what dating a P-type person is like?
We checked out Naksan Beach, visited a raw fish restaurant we'd been to on a previous trip, and ate a ton of good food. Before heading back to Seoul, we stopped here for a hangover lunch — Dongne Oppa Dak Jjamppong ⌯'-'⌯

This place is run out of a container building with such a unique vibe! Even from a distance it had that hidden local favorite feel, which really built up my expectations.

There's a spacious parking lot right in front of the restaurant, which was really convenient ~ ꔛ♡˒˒

The interior was neatly kept overall, and here and there you'd spot little decor touches showing the owner's personal taste — a nice detail. There were even baby chairs, so you could comfortably bring the kids on a family trip.
Just two menu items: jjamppong and jajangmyeon

A no-frills menu, deep jjamppong flavor.
True to its name, Dongne Oppa Dak Jjamppong doesn't serve a little bit of everything like some restaurants — it runs on just two items: jjamppong and jajangmyeon (black bean noodles). Am I the only one who feels more confident in a place when the menu is this simple, like 'this place really means business with flavor'?

- Chicken jjamppong (noodles) ₩11,000
- Chicken jjamppong rice ₩11,000
- Side jajangmyeon ₩6,000
We ordered one chicken jjamppong, one jjamppong rice, and a side jajangmyeon, and the basic side dishes came out — pickled radish, kimchi, stir-fried fish cake, raw onion, and ssamjang.

The main dishes didn't take too long to arrive ~ The owner brought the food over and kindly told us, 'Try the side jajangmyeon first!'

Starting with the side jajangmyeon
The side jajangmyeon felt like a thoughtful touch for families with young kids, or big eaters who don't want to stop at just jjamppong! It has plenty of sauce and a moist texture that was totally my type 🔫

It wasn't overly rich or greasy but had a subtle sweetness, so even scooping up the leftover sauce after finishing the noodles felt totally fine ~ Looking back after finishing everything, I realized... ah, the jajang was there to protect our stomachs before the spicy stuff. What sense the owner has... (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
Soft tofu, generous ingredients, and a proper hangover cure
Not an artificial heat, but the clean sharpness of red pepper flakes. Once the jajang has done its job protecting your stomach, it's time for the chicken jjamppong, right? ٩₍ᐢ. ◞ . ᐢ₎۶

It came generously topped with white, soft tofu, bean sprouts, and green chives — visually, an instant pass 🏅 It looked clearly different from the regular jjamppong we usually eat. Like a combo of smoky dak-gaejang (spicy chicken soup) and jjamppong?

Dongne Oppa Dak Jjamppong really doesn't skimp on ingredients ~ There's plenty of shredded, savory chicken and pork, plus napa cabbage, onion, and carrot — I was completely stuffed.

The chewy noodles were fully soaked in the rich broth, and one bite in — whoof!! Insane jjamppong..!!
Chicken jjamppong rice is its own delicacy
I also stole a bite of my partner's jjamppong rice, and the way the spicy broth soaked into the warm rice grains made it its own kind of delicacy. The owner mentioned the broth might taste a bit spicier than usual today, but for my spice-loving palate, it was perfect!
It wasn't an artificial heat from something like capsaicin, but a clean spiciness from red pepper flakes, so the heat didn't linger in my mouth for long.

Maybe because it wasn't too oily, but I felt completely comfortable afterward with no stomach discomfort at all! 𐔌՞˶>˛<˶՞𐦯
Yangyang lunch recommendation: final thoughts on Dongne Oppa Dak Jjamppong
A deep flavor that completely clears your system — a definite repeat visit on the next winter trip.
I found my all-time favorite jjamppong spot, one that kept me picking up my spoon even after I was already full. The food overall was clean without any greasiness, so my mouth felt fresh and my stomach comfortable even after eating ~ ( ՞ෆ ෆ՞ ) ❕

We promised each other to come back to Yangyang this coming winter, and when we do, we're definitely stopping here for lunch again before heading back to Seoul! If you're looking for a hangover-cure meal after a Yangyang trip, Dongne Oppa Dak Jjamppong is the first Yangyang lunch spot I'd recommend. Seriously, you have to try it! (´•ᴗ• ก )՞ ՞♡
