Where is Mapo Mokjang, and how close is it to Mapo Station and Hotel Naru?

Mapo Mokjang is near Mapo Station on Line 5, and close to Hangang Park and Hotel Naru! Great location whether you're hunting for a Mapo Station restaurant or dropping by after a walk along the Han River.

When I stayed at Hotel Naru for a staycation before... I wish I'd known about this place then, haha. It's right by the hotel, so it would've been perfect for a staycation dinner out for beef!

Yes, parking is available! It's honestly hard to find a Mapo beef restaurant with parking nearby, so it was really nice to be able to park comfortably right in front.

Inside Mapo Mokjang: the room and group dinners

Near Mapo Station, Mapo Mokjang has this genuinely warm, homey beef-restaurant vibe... retro but really cool too! Tables are spaced well, which makes it good for eating with kids, and the place is big with lots of seats — perfect for group company dinners!

There were tons of customers, from young people to office workers. You can easily book group or company reservations through Naver Reservations, so I'd recommend reserving ahead before visiting!

What to order: imperial beef ribs, 600g for 58,000 won

The menu is mostly beef rib meat, with hanwoo (Korean beef) yukhoe (raw beef tartare) too! You know the real deal for beef rib is the unmarinated raw version, right? Haha. There's also a side called the nostalgic lunchbox, and plenty of other tasty items.

They use Black Angus for their imperial beef ribs, apparently, and the freshness of the meat really showed! It's not a place that mixes in random cuts — they specialize in beef rib only, which made me trust it more, haha.

The free kimchi stew and side dishes

At first I saw soybean paste stew on the menu and was about to order it, but the staff told me kimchi stew comes free by default, haha. Hehe, the staff were super kind, honestly.

The side dishes were clean and generous too — my favorite crunchy bean sprout salad, scallion shreds, pickled onions, all the combos that go well with meat! And then the beef finally arrived — a huge plate, seriously massive portion!!

Can two people finish 600g of beef ribs?

The value is insane, haha. There were two of us, and honestly the portion looked so huge I worried we couldn't finish it. But in the end... we ate every single bite like a couple of piggies, haha.

The meat was so naturally savory and fresh, with insane juiciness, that we couldn't leave any behind, haha. Absolute honey flavor!! The meat wasn't dry at all — super chewy yet tender, so the drinks kept going down easy. A great value drinking spot near Mapo Station!

If there are two of you, just order the 600g from the start, haha.

Is Mapo Mokjang worth it, and who should go?

We got to eat until we were stuffed with beef ribs for ₩58,000!! Seriously huge portion, insane value...!! Usually if you eat this much beef around Mapo or Yeouido, the bill blows up, haha. The meat wasn't tough at all, it was tender, so it'd be great to bring kids along too!!

The space is spacious, so I'd strongly recommend it for company group dinners, and there were tons of young people even late at night!! So many young crowds around, haha.
