Apgujeong nail salon matte vs glossy gray-purple nude: Naeil Didi

This is the story of my gray-purple nude square nails from TOMORROW DD, Naeil Didi (내일디디), an Apgujeong nail salon where you can swatch colors on your own hands to find your match.

This time I wanted to calm down my fingertips, so I went to Naeil Didi, an Apgujeong nail salon! The design I picked is a nude square nail with a subtle hint of gray and purple. No decorations, just color and shape as the focal point, but it's neat and has a curious tone, so I love it every time I look at my hands 🤎

What stuck with me most was how kind the staff were, from booking all the way to the end of the treatment. They let me swatch the colors on my nails, and even showed me matte and glossy finishes, which I'd been torn over, so it was easy to choose what suited my taste!

Where is Naeil Didi, and what are the hours and parking?

Naeil Didi is at 18 Apgujeong-ro 50-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, 6th floor, Unit 601, about 296 m from Exit 6 of Apgujeongnodeo Station, a 3-minute walk. It's open daily 11:00–21:00, and closed on January 1, Lunar New Year's Day and Chuseok Day.

What is the atmosphere like inside Naeil Didi?

Naeil Didi is a calm Apgujeong nail salon decorated in white and gray tones. Bright marble-patterned floors, white tables and gray chairs gave it a clean feel overall! The big windows let you see the view outside and let in natural light during the day. Being able to look out the window while getting my nails done kept the space from feeling stuffy, which I liked, haha

There are several nail tables, with color charts and supplies placed around them, so you can browse lots of designs! Multiple people can be treated at once, so it seems like a good place to come with a friend!

On one side there's also a separate pedicure area, with recliners set on a raised platform.

The tables came with an arm cushion and a phone stand. Even these little touches caught my eye! I needed a charge, and they even had a power bank ready for me, I was so touched.... ♥♥♥♥

Nail care and shaping the square line

Okay, now the care begins! The care at Naeil Didi was really clean and thorough, haha. This time I wanted square, so I asked for a square line and as long as possible. They did it just as I asked, which made me so happy!

How did I choose the nude color?

Okay.. time to choose.. they're all pretty, so which one?! T_T

I picked the first color in the second row! I wanted nude nails, but once I got there, a strangely purple-tinged, toned-down shade caught my eye, and I agonized for ages before choosing it! At Naeil Didi, once I picked a few colors I liked, they helped me swatch them on my nails to compare, haha. Seeing them on my own hand, I could tell which one I liked better, haha

The one I finally chose is a nude base with a slight touch of gray and purple. It feels calm and toned down rather than sweet pink, so it matched the mood I wanted! I liked that they let me compare even the tiny differences in shade myself.

Matte vs glossy: choosing by seeing both

I was also torn between matte and glossy, and I was so, so happy that Naeil Didi let me actually see both before choosing.. I wanted matte, but once it was on,,, the glossy looked prettier, so I just picked glossy!

With a smooth shine over the soft gray-purple color, even a simple one-color nail looks so, so pretty, haha. I was satisfied that they helped me find the look I wanted, from color to finish, haha

The finished gray-purple nude square nails

The finished nails are a nude one-color design in a square shape with neatly trimmed tips! I love them so much, haha. The edge line is tidy and the corners are softly finished, so the whole shape looks clean! They really put a lot of care into the overall shape.. haha

The color looks different depending on the lighting.

• Indoors it looks like a calm gray nude
• In sunlight the purple tint shows up a little more subtly!

They also let me choose between 1 coat and 2 coats, and with 1 coat it looks like it has a slight gradient, which I like even more, haha

Overall verdict: friendly from booking to the finish

Even finished without any charms or art, the shape and shine make my fingertips look put together, so it feels complete!
