The interior was very clean. You tend to notice cleanliness and interior when visiting a salon, and everything here was so pleasant that I felt good throughout the whole appointment.

The waiting and perm zone by the window especially had an open view of the Apgujeong streets, so I could read magazines comfortably during the heat treatment without feeling cooped up — very satisfying!

The products used at this Apgujeong Rodeo salon were on display, and both the shampoo room and lockers were spotless.

While waiting, they offer coffee, juice, or tea — I asked for orange juice, and they also brought cute mini muffins, which helped with my hungry stomach.

Men's part perm and volume perm with a scalp protectant: how it went

My stylist was Senior Designer Ilho. Before starting the perm, we had a thorough consultation about my usual hair concerns, the style I wanted, and styling habits. He carefully guided me through everything from the cut line to the perm and curl feel, tailored to my head shape, hair texture, and face shape.

My scalp had been in bad shape lately from frequent overtime and dieting stress, but he added a scalp protectant to keep things safe while still styling it well — I really appreciated how considerate he was! Hair treatment products can irritate the scalp a lot, so he kept checking carefully throughout to make sure I was comfortable.

How to style the volume perm at home

While blow-drying after shampooing, he showed me how to grab and lift the volume above the part line, and demonstrated in detail how I should style it going forward — really great. Thanks to that, I've been keeping up with styling at home diligently :)

Why a part perm and volume perm instead of a shadow perm?

And here's the finished look! I've usually gone with a neat part perm and volume perm, but I mentioned wanting to change up my style, so he suggested a shadow perm and other options too. In the end, since styling in the morning being a hassle was a concern, I went with the part perm and volume perm again — but he first suggested adding more curl to the top and back while toning down the excess volume, which made me trust the process :)

I'd worried it might sting because of my scalp condition, or that the perm might not take well because of the scalp protectant, but those worries turned out to be unfounded — it came out great!
