Gyugyu Donkatsu is a Yeoju Japanese restaurant serving properly made tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) alongside ramen!! I was out at Yeoju Outlets looking for somewhere to eat lunch and ended up here, and honestly both the tonkatsu and the ramen were better than I expected, so I wanted to share haha. I especially love spicy ramen, so I ordered special loin katsu + Taiwan ramen + a side of fillet katsu!

To cut to the conclusion... the Taiwan ramen was seriously, seriously good!! 🌶️🌶️ And the tonkatsu was honestly better than any I've had anywhere in Seoul, ugh. The soup is sharp and spicy, and you can even refill the noodles, so if you're looking for good ramen near Yeoju Outlets, I recommend it!! Plus the rice and salad are unlimited refills so you can eat as much as you want — a great lunch spot in Yeoju.

🚗Parking. Parking is available! There's plenty of space behind the building. In Yeoju you're usually getting around by car, so it was really convenient to park right behind the restaurant!

➡️Entrance. Gyugyu Donkatsu is a great pick when you're in Yeoju and want easy parking, generous portions, and properly made tonkatsu! They say they prep fresh meat by hand every single day. As a tonkatsu specialist, they have everything from loin katsu to fillet katsu to special loin katsu, plus katsudon and ramen varieties, so it's a good spot for a tonkatsu person and a ramen person to visit together and each order what they want haha.

🪑Table. Inside there's everything from regular tables to seating for groups! They also have high chairs for visitors with kids, so it's a good option not just for a date but also for a family meal with children or a group lunch in Yeoju.

🥩Menu & Table. The menu is way more varied than I expected! Starting with their signature Gyugyu menchi katsu, there's special loin katsu, loin katsu, fillet katsu, shrimp loin katsu, cheese loin katsu, negi katsu, and more Japanese tonkatsu options 👍🏻. Beyond tonkatsu there's also katsudon, cheese katsudon, Taiwan ramen, chashu men, and cold yuzu ramen, so there's plenty to choose from depending on your taste!

There was plenty of sauce too... so nice haha. There's also a handwashing station, which felt really hygienic!

How are the unlimited rice and salad refills?

🥗 And here's the part I really liked about Gyugyu Donkatsu! Rice and salad are unlimited refills!! I tend to eat a lot of salad with tonkatsu, and the initial portion is never enough for me, ugh. Here you can just get more whenever you want, which was great.

And it's not just great because it's unlimited — the salad dressing is genuinely delicious lol. It's sweet and tangy and pairs really well with tonkatsu, so I kept refilling the salad too haha. Take a bite of crispy tonkatsu, then a bite of the refreshing salad, and your palate resets! With rice unlimited too, you'll never run out of rice with a last piece of tonkatsu leftover. Tonkatsu + rice + salad all unlimited, and Taiwan ramen even lets you refill the noodles, so for anyone who eats a lot, this feels like great value for a Yeoju lunch spot.

Taiwan ramen loin katsu set: how spicy is the broth?

🌶️Taiwan ramen & loin katsu set. But what really hit the spot for me that day... was the Taiwan ramen!!! It was seriously so good, ugh. I came for tonkatsu and ended up falling hard for the ramen instead lol. The spicy ramen is topped with plenty of meat and chives, and the moment you taste the broth it's sharp and spicy!! I love spicy food so this clearly bold, spicy broth was exactly my thing. It's not a heavy, greasy tonkotsu-style ramen —

it's a spicy, warming broth, so it pairs really well with tonkatsu too!! ❤️❤️ Take a bite of tonkatsu, then a sip of the Taiwan ramen broth, and it completely cuts through the richness! Personally, of everything I ate that day, the Taiwan ramen stuck with me the most, so if you're looking for good ramen near Yeoju Outlets, I'd definitely say order the Taiwan ramen too!!

And here's what made it even better... you can refill the Taiwan ramen noodles!!🍜 A lot of ramen places charge extra for added noodles, so it was great that refills were included here. The broth is so good that I always had broth left over after finishing the noodles, which was a shame, but with a noodle refill you can eat until you're properly full lol. If you eat a lot, this will especially hit the spot! Even if you don't usually eat much, it's so tasty you'll end up going for more, ugh.

Special loin katsu vs side fillet katsu: what's the difference?

Special loin katsu. First up, the main order — special loin katsu! Special loin katsu comes from a cut of loin with just the right amount of fat, making it a bit softer and richer than regular loin katsu. The breading was crispy while the meat inside was thick and juicy — great texture!

It's the kind of Japanese-style tonkatsu where you can really taste the meat's texture and juiciness, so anyone looking for a Japanese tonkatsu restaurant in Yeoju, go for it! And with the fat mixed in just right, it was much richer and softer than a lean-only tonkatsu. 🫢

Side fillet katsu. And we added a side of fillet katsu too! If special loin katsu is about enjoying the fat's richness and softness, fillet katsu is clearly leaner and more delicate! Even though they're both tonkatsu, the two textures are quite different, so if you like trying a bit of everything like me, I'd recommend adding the side fillet katsu! One bite of special loin, one bite of fillet, and you can clearly feel each one's distinct charm haha.

If you want properly made Japanese tonkatsu in Yeoju, Gyugyu Donkatsu is worth a visit! This time I tried the special loin katsu, Taiwan ramen, and side fillet katsu — the tonkatsu was crispy outside and juicy inside, and it was fun comparing the different textures of the special loin and fillet 👍🏻. But my personal favorite was still the Taiwan ramen 🌶️ The sharp, spicy broth was exactly my taste and I enjoyed it so, so much lol ugh. The spicy broth especially cuts through the richness of the tonkatsu perfectly, so I highly recommend the tonkatsu + Taiwan ramen combo!! On top of that, rice and salad are unlimited refills, and you can even refill the Taiwan ramen noodles, so if you want to eat until you're full, this place should satisfy you too.

Seeing that they even have a noodle-making room, it all made sense why the Taiwan ramen was so good! Ah... writing this post is making me hungry again, ugh. Next time I'm at Yeoju Outlets, I'm definitely coming back here, no question. Drooling.
