Teuwaetmoa Changwon Branch is a French toast brunch café in Seosang-dong, Uichang-gu, Changwon, and the Changwon location of Teuwaetmoa, a Busan café famous for its French toast. The order was the autumn seasonal fig oji toast, banana pudding (9,000 won), a cucumber soda topped with a white flower and an iced Busan Blend Americano, and the fig purée sauce with Greek yogurt cream was the standout. For seasonal desserts in a small space that feels like a European resort, Teuwaetmoa Changwon Branch is well worth a visit.

Gimhae café with a pampas terrace and lemon pound cake: Peer a Peer

Peer a Peer is a large bakery café in Jillye-myeon, Gimhae, Gyeongnam, set in a remodeled former factory of about 350 pyeong (roughly 1,160 m²). On a drive out, the writer browsed Peer a Peer's small library and exhibition space, then had the Kkosup (nutty) cream latte at 7,000 won, the Autumn Night latte at 6,000 won, a daily-limited lemon meringue croissant and lemon pound cake on the outdoor terrace lined with autumn pampas grass. With its large private parking lot and pampas terrace, Peer a Peer is an easy place to linger near Gimhae and Changwon.

Snow crab restaurant in Gijang, Busan: 1.8kg at ₩70,000/kg for two

Gijang Myeongpum Daegae (기장명품대게) is a snow crab restaurant inside Gijang Market in Gijang, Busan, where you pick live snow crab from the tank and the crab is weighed with the basket weight deducted. A couple on a summer holiday chose 2 snow crabs (1.8kg) for ₩127,000 at ₩70,000 per kg, and paid ₩152,000 in total with the ₩5,000-per-person table setting and salad bar, fried rice, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and drinks. Gijang Myeongpum Daegae charges no separate steaming fee and has its own parking lot, so a family meal there doesn't feel like a burden.
