I wanted to write a proper review of my visit to Famous Benny, one of Gwangalli's best-known brunch spots in Busan.

I was out looking at the sea and searching for a good-vibe brunch café when I ended up here — from the entrance the atmosphere felt so warm and the coffee smell was amazing, which put me in a great mood right away. Hope this helps if you're looking for a relaxing meal near Gwangalli Beach.

Inside Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch: mood and seating

Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is a two-floor brunch café on Minrakbondong-ro 11beon-gil. The moment I stepped in, the hip-yet-cozy interior caught my eye. The space is decorated so nicely that it's perfect for a date, and just as good for catching up with friends or family over brunch. The staff were really friendly too, so it felt refreshing from the moment I walked in.

The drinks: iced americano, hot flat white and iced matcha latte

Let me start with the drinks we ordered. We got an Iced Americano with a clean finish, a Hot Flat White with a rich milky flavor, and a bittersweet Iced Matcha Latte.

The cold Iced Americano had a really great balance of acidity and nuttiness. Not too sour or bitter, with a nice heavy body, it paired perfectly with the richer brunch dishes.

Thanks to its clean aftertaste, it was the ideal drink to sip between bites of brunch. After walking in from the summer sea breeze at Gwangalli, one sip completely washed away my thirst.

The Hot Flat White I enjoyed warm had beautifully smooth, carefully poured milk foam on top.

The espresso was stronger than in a regular latte, so the deep, nutty flavor of the beans really came through. Thanks to being pleasantly hot rather than lukewarm, I could enjoy the rich, fresh harmony of espresso and milk from the first sip to the last. If you love a strong coffee flavor, I'd definitely recommend this one.

The Iced Matcha Latte caught my eye visually first — it was a drink where the distinctive bitterness of green tea and the rich nuttiness of milk came together perfectly.

It wasn't a cheap, flat green tea syrup flavor — you could really taste the deep, bitter flavor of proper matcha concentrate, which impressed me. The sweetness wasn't overdone either, so it stayed clean without feeling heavy in the mouth. The pretty green color also photographed beautifully, so it was a treat for both the eyes and the tongue.

What does The Famous Benny taste like with the bacon option?

Now let me introduce the main dish here — the bacon option of The Famous Benny. True to its status as the signature menu item, it looked gorgeous and appetizing from the start. Every component was assembled with real care, and you could feel the layers of flavor building up into a really refined dish.

The base croissant was a textbook example of crispy-outside, soft-inside. On top of the buttery croissant sat generous portions of savory, well-cooked bacon and big chunks of fresh avocado, giving it a really full texture.

The avocado was ripe enough to be creamy and soft with every bite.

And when I popped the poached egg — the heart of any eggs Benedict — the yolk flowed out savory and rich, mixing into the sauce in a genuinely moving moment.

Sabayon sauce with macadamia and onion chips

On top of all that, Famous Benny's own special sabayon sauce maximized the flavor. Sweet, nutty and smooth, the sabayon sauce blended with the yolk, bacon and avocado to deliver deep umami with every bite.

The ingredients that added flavor accents were impressive too. The crunchy bits of macadamia added fun texture along with their nutty flavor.

The crispy onion chips scattered on top played the perfect supporting role, adding light crunch to what could otherwise be a heavy, creamy bite. All these varied ingredients came together with such depth of flavor that I instantly understood why this place is considered Gwangalli's top brunch spot.

Dessert to finish: the acai bowl at Famous Benny

Finally, to finish things off cleanly and refreshingly, we chose the Acai Bowl. If you're looking for something healthy but delicious, this is a must-order.

A generous base of deep red acai purée was topped with fresh, sweet banana slices, crunchy granola, and a big scoop of rich, nutty peanut butter — a really full composition.

The cold acai purée had a bright, clean flavor that lit up the whole bowl. The combination of soft banana and crunchy, nutty granola on top of the purée was wonderful.

Above all, what impressed me most was how well it went with the peanut butter. Adding the rich, heavy peanut butter to the bright, berry-based acai purée created an addictive interplay of tangy and nutty flavors I never got tired of.

Is Famous Benny worth it for Gwangalli brunch?

From the drinks to the main brunch dish and the healthy dessert, everything worked together so well that I was thoroughly satisfied throughout the meal.

Not only were the ingredients fresh, but you could feel the care put into every sauce and topping. Thanks to the comfortable space and delicious food, my time in Gwangalli became even more special and memorable.
