Mangwon bakery weekday-evening choco palmier: Boulangerie Copain
In short
Boulangerie Copain (블랑제리코팡) is a bakery right outside Exit 1 of Mangwon Station in Mapo, Seoul, featured on the Korean TV show Master of Living and known for its baguettes and croissants. On a weekday evening visit the choco baguette was sold out, so the haul was a choco palmier, a brioche loaf, a croissant (₩4,500) and a salt bread (₩3,500), all large and full of butter flavor. With a 7pm sale every day, Boulangerie Copain is a good Mangwon bakery for stocking up on big loaves at a fair price.

4 breads I picked at Boulangerie Copain on a weekday evening

This time I ordered a choco palmier, a brioche loaf, a croissant and a salt bread.
Choco palmier: sweet and crispy with coffee

The choco palmier at Boulangerie Copain snaps crisply, and the chocolate-coated part tastes rich and sweet. I like palmiers, and this one was delicious. Sweet and crunchy, it is so, so good with coffee ◜◡◝
The bread here was also way bigger than at other shops, yet the prices are reasonable, so it seems like a great place to stock up generously.
Salt bread: big, with a butter cave inside

The salt bread (₩3,500) was fluffy with a butter cave packed inside. My beloved salt bread! Great butter flavor, not greasy at all, and big too 🤍
Can't you see how soft and moist it is? I bet it goes really well with milk too.
Brioche loaf: flaky layers, great for tearing apart

The cross-section of the brioche loaf (₩7,000) shows distinct layers, and it is wonderful for tearing off little bits. It is moist and very soft, the kind you keep reaching for. Even plain it is not bland at all, just really nutty and rich 💗

It is so moist and the price is reasonable too, so I want to keep this at home all the time and eat it with coffee.
Croissant: why Boulangerie Copain is famous

Boulangerie Copain is famous for croissants and baguettes, so I picked up a croissant (₩4,500) too, and one bite told me why it is famous haha

It shatters crisply, the layers are properly defined, and the butter flavor is the real deal 💗 Maybe they use good butter, because it was not greasy at all, and the breads overall are mild and keep disappearing into my mouth.

Boulangerie Copain as picnic bread for Mangwon Hangang Park
I'm already a bread lover, so I'm so happy to have found a sensibly priced bakery in Mangwon with big sizes too 💗 There is a wide variety of bread, and since Boulangerie Copain is near Mangwon Hangang Park, it is perfect to take out for a picnic.
Next time I'll definitely buy the choco baguette, and bring home even more to stock up.
