Kkachisan Japanese diner: katsu poured vs dipped, icy soba, Hekbap
In short
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch (핵밥 까치산점) is a Japanese home-style rice bowl restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Lotteria building near Exit 3 of Kkachisan Station in Gangseo, Seoul. We ordered two Western-style pork cutlets (₩11,900 each), one with the sauce poured over and one with the sauce on the side for dipping, plus a ₩2,500 mini udon add-on and a ₩10,000 maru soba (cold soba) with slushy ice floating in the broth. Hekbap Kkachisan Branch keeps the seasoning light and clean, which makes it a good pick for a family meal with kids or a solo summer lunch.

Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is 99 m from Exit 3 of Kkachisan Station, on the 2nd floor of the Lotteria building. Walk straight about 50 m from the exit and you'll spot it. 💃
There's no parking in the building, so use the nearby public lot, the Kkachisan Station Hwagok Bon 1-1 public parking lot. It costs ₩50 per 5 minutes, up to ₩2,000 a day. 🚗
At the entrance there's a short menu overview. You can enjoy all kinds of Japanese home-style dishes here, such as rice bowls, ramen, soba, udon, katsu and curry, in a tidy setting. 👌

What are the seats like for solo diners and family meals?
The inside of Hekbap Kkachisan Branch was pleasant and neat, with 4-person tables, 2-person tables, and even solo seats for people eating alone. ✨️✨️✨️
Disposable aprons are provided on the wall, and there are high chairs too, so I'd recommend it for family meals. 🤗
Hekbap is a Japanese home-style restaurant, but I really loved its slogan, "a restaurant that protects the heart of rice." 👍👍👍

Tips on how to enjoy each dish best are also posted at the table. 👀 The table was neatly arranged!! My favorite thing was the hair tie 🤗

And finally, the dishes I ordered arrive!!!! 🍽

How does the icy maru soba taste? (₩10,000)
The maru soba is ₩10,000, and the mini udon is the one I added to the Western-style katsu for ₩2,500 😋

It was hot out, so I ordered the maru soba to cool down. It came with ice floating in it, topped with fried tofu, shredded seaweed and cabbage 👍👍👍
Maru soba is good for dieting and good for your health!! The broth wasn't salty and tasted clean, and the noodles were springy and nutty 😋 I highly recommend it this summer.

Western-style katsu: pour-on vs dip-on-the-side (₩11,900)
The Western-style katsu (gyeongyangsik donkkaseu) at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is ₩11,900. 🍽

The katsu came as a neat full tray with cabbage salad, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), pickled radish, cheese rice cake and a clear soup. 👌

Hekbap's sweetish Western-style katsu sauce is perfect for kids, and even as an adult I enjoyed it since it isn't salty. 😋 I ordered one pour-on and one dip-on-the-side, and even the pour-on katsu stayed crispy, moist inside and crunchy outside 👏👏👏

In the cross-section, the meat is thick, with a nice chew and a tender bite. 😋 It was light with no gamey smell.

Mini udon add-on (₩2,500)
This is the mini udon I added to the Western-style katsu for ₩2,500. 🍽

The mini udon had a clean broth, and the noodles were springy and chewy 😋
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch: overall verdict
Everything I ordered at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch today was a hit. If you want a rice bowl place in Kkachisan serving a range of Japanese home-style dishes in a clean, comfortable setting, I recommend giving it a visit. 🤗
Another piggy-good day wrapped up!!! 🐷 Thanks for the meal.
