Jeju Gunam-ro dessert café with family: summer corn cake, Gluttony

Whenever I want a cup of coffee and a good dessert near Jeju Airport, there's one place that comes to mind: Gluttony Coffee (글러트니커피). A public parking lot is close by, so parking is easy, and the coffee and desserts are so good that I visit often.

This time I went with my family again and ordered a bit of everything: café latte, milk tea, canelé (a small French custard pastry), Chodang corn cake and tiramisu.

What does the summer-only Chodang corn cake taste like?

Personally, the most memorable item at Gluttony Coffee was the summer-only Chodang corn cake (made with chodang oksusu, a super-sweet Korean corn variety).

True to a summer seasonal menu, the sweetness of the corn came through fully. It wasn't an artificial sweetness but the natural sweetness of the corn itself, which made it all the more charming.

The nutty corn flavor between layers of soft cream worked really well, and with the moist cake layers I kept reaching for another bite. I think even people who don't usually eat much cake could enjoy it without feeling weighed down.

Rich tiramisu

The tiramisu can't be left out either. Mascarpone cream that melts softly and coffee soaked moist into the layers came together for a rich dessert.

The balance of sweet and bitter was good, so I could enjoy it to the very last bite without getting tired of it.
