I went to Raicho, a new Jeju City café that's been blowing up on Instagram lately! My husband and I dropped the kids off and made a quick trip for a relaxed tea time together.
Where is Raicho, and where do you park in the Ido-idong alley?
Warm wood tones and sunlight pouring in — a place with amazing natural light
Tucked into an alley in a residential part of Ido-idong, Raicho had that special feeling from the outside already! Cafés in residential neighborhoods usually make me worry about parking (especially since I'm still a new driver), but the alley parking wasn't as tricky as I expected, so you should be able to visit without much stress!
Inside Raicho: wood tones and floor-to-ceiling window light
The overall vibe of the café is set in warm wood tones, which made me feel instantly at ease! There are especially large, open windows everywhere, letting natural light pour into the space — truly a place with great light.
Raicho's French toast: crisp outside, soft inside, with Maldon salt
I ordered Raicho's signature menu: French toast, an iced americano, and an iced matcha latte!
French toast: I understood in one bite why everyone kept saying this place is a French toast spot. The outside was thinly caramelized and pleasantly crisp, while the inside was soft and moist through and through.
The Maldon salt pairing: The Maldon salt served lightly on the side of the French toast was a genius touch. Dipping the sweet toast into the salty flakes created the perfect sweet-salty combo, and I honestly couldn't put my fork down.
Iced americano and a well-whisked matcha latte to go with the toast
A sweet dessert needs a clean, crisp drink to go with it, right?
Iced americano: The nutty, clean flavor of the beans paired perfectly with the sweet, soft French toast! Taking a cold sip right as the sweetness lingered in my mouth felt so refreshing!
Iced matcha latte: The matcha latte was whisked really well, so it went down smooth with no clumps! It had a deep, rich matcha flavor.
Why we're going back to Raicho for the sandwiches
Between the cozy space, the excellent desserts, and the carefully made drinks, Raicho was a wonderful new café in Jeju City!
I heard from a friend that Raicho isn't just known for French toast — the sandwiches are supposed to be just as good.
Next time, after dropping the kids off, I'll have to come back for a sandwich and a cup of coffee!
