The blogger ordered the small halibut and rockfish platter for 39,000 won and a 10,000-won seodeori-tang (fish-frame stew) with extra sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes) and rice, and kept refilling seaweed soup and lettuce wraps from the self-serve bar. Today I'm introducing a great-value sashimi and seafood spot in Yeoksam-dong. It has lots of space, friendly prices and a wide menu, which makes it perfect for a company dinner: Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang (속초오징어어시장).
Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch: location and hours
📍 It's at 337 Nonhyeon-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the ground floor. ⏰ Open every day of the year, 11:00 to 04:00.

First, the exterior. The outdoor-style pub I used to visit a lot is right next door, so this would be great for a first or second round! I went early in the evening and there were already plenty of groups eating.

Seating for company dinners and groups, and the vibe
The restaurant has an upper floor as well as the ground floor, so it can hold a really large number of people. It's spotless and the interior is neat. It seems lots of people come here for wedding afterparties too, and when I visited, several groups were there. It feels like a hot Yeoksam-dong sashimi place in Gangnam.

I sat by the window. On cool evenings they open the doors so you can eat with an outdoor-pub feel, but the tropical-night heat lately has been rough (T_T). Each table has a tablet for ordering, and all the sauces are already set out on the table.

Corkage and the receipt review event
They run a review event and also offer corkage service, so bringing your own pricey liquor to enjoy with the seafood would be great. If you post a receipt review, you can choose between a drink and fried shrimp!

Basic side dishes and the self-bar seaweed soup
This is the basic table setting they lay out for you, and if you need more or want extra sides, just use the self-bar. Macaroni salad once in a while is so good.

The self-bar has even more than the standard sides, and the seaweed soup is a total cheat code. There are also ssam veggies, white kimchi, chili peppers and more, which is even better.

There I am, happily ladling up seaweed soup and mixing a somaek (soju and beer)... I was already on a roll before the sashimi even arrived. That broth really is something I keep thinking about ❤️

Halibut + rockfish (small) for ₩39,000: portion and freshness
We ordered the halibut + rockfish (small) for ₩39,000, and the portion is quite generous! The sashimi looked great too. The value is so good that I'd really recommend ordering it when you come as a group.

Besides sets that include salmon, there's also an assorted sashimi set, so ordering to your own taste would be nice too. Even though ours was the small halibut and rockfish, I was surprised by how much there was. It comes with pickled scallions (rakkyo) and ginger, and you can ask for more if you run short.

Just with wasabi or chojang (sweet-spicy red pepper sauce), it's already delicious, and the texture was chewy, springy and fresh. Cheap but tasty: that's the live fish sashimi at Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang. The wasabi is real wasabi, so it isn't too sharp and goes well with the fish.

And of course, sashimi wrapped in ssam (leaf wraps) is a must. I think wrapping sashimi is the best way to eat it. Especially with perilla leaf, you get that distinctive sharp, chewy flavor.

Fish-head stew for ₩10,000 with extra sujebi noodles
Then the seodeori-tang (fish-head and bones stew) we ordered on top. It's ₩10,000 and the lineup is so good. The portion is huge and what's inside is really hearty. I couldn't just eat the stew on its own, so I also ordered sujebi noodles and one bowl of rice.
It arrives already boiled once, and when I brought it to a rolling boil again, the broth was so refreshing. I was happy to have a really good maeuntang (spicy fish stew) for the first time in a while!

With bean sprouts, water dropwort and fish inside, ordering just this would be enough for a bottle of soju. A Yeoksam-dong place with great-value menu options. If you're craving fresh seafood and live fish sashimi for a night out, I recommend Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang.
