In short

Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch (오르드비 상왕십리역점) is a two-person hair studio in the Centras shopping complex near Sangwangsimni Station in Seongdong, Seoul. Five months after her last root straightening, the writer had her strongly wavy, semi-curly regrowth straightened at the roots and got a layered cut, and the pre-service questionnaire, 1:1 care from a single designer and the massage-chair shampoo station stood out most. Verdict: Oreudeubi is a salon where even very shy people can comfortably get semi-curly hair tamed and a layered cut.

Why I went to this Sangwangsimni hair salon

Five months after my last root straightening perm (뿌리매직), my semi-curly new growth was coming in really strongly, so I got a root straightening perm and a layered cut at Or de Vie (Oreudeubi) hair studio near Sangwangsimni Station. The weather is warming up and we're all outdoors more, and I bet a lot of you stress over frizzy curls popping up every time you look in the mirror, right?

My hair is seriously semi-curly, so if I don't get a straightening treatment regularly, my whole hairline looks messy, and it's been a real worry. Five months had already gone by since my last root perm, and the new hair was starting to curl up and assert itself, T_T I couldn't leave it like this, and I found a hidden-gem salon around Sangwangsimni with a great word-of-mouth reputation, the kind that gave me the best hair of my life! It's Or de Vie (Oreudeubi) hair studio, near Sangwangsimni Station.

Good news if you drive: the parking lot in the building is very large and roomy. Salons in central Seoul often have tiny parking or mechanical parking that's a hassle, but the building where Oreudeubi sits has plenty of space, so even novice drivers can park and visit without any stress.

The self-serve mini café bar in the waiting area

When you walk into Oreudeubi, a kind staff member welcomes you and guides you to the waiting area. On one side there's a neat, cute self-serve mini café bar to keep your mouth happy while your hair is being done.

Besides a capsule coffee machine, there are finger-food snacks like sweet chocolate and nutty oatmeal butter biscuits, neatly displayed on a tiered tray for a sugar boost. It was a lovely detail, full of warm care and generosity toward even the smallest part of a customer's stay. 😊🍪

How does the questionnaire consultation before the treatment work?

As soon as you sit down at Oreudeubi, you fill out a detailed questionnaire about your hair condition and the style you want. That was the first point where their thoughtfulness stood out.

The items are split up very precisely: your current hair concerns (damage level, curliness and so on), the image you want (chic, elegant and so on), points to watch out for, even how long ago your last treatment was and what time of day you usually shampoo. I wrote that I'd had a root straightening perm five months ago and that the grown-out semi-curly hair was so strong it looked messy.

Going over your hair history and tastes, which are hard to put into words, through a questionnaire before the treatment made communication with the designer feel more systematic and smooth. I found it very sensible and loved it.

Is the designer comfortable for shy people?

The male designer at Oreudeubi who did my root straightening kept things to hair talk only, with no personal small talk, which was really comfortable for an introvert. I had no scalp pain or pulling during the whole treatment either.

Here's my before photo. Frizzy and messy, right? T_T The savior who rescued my frizzy semi-curly hair today was the Oreudeubi designer! Even though he's a male designer, his hands were so precise and careful, and he handled every strand so gently without any pulling, that I felt no scalp pain or discomfort for even a moment.

For shy customers like me, who suddenly go quiet around people we've just met, he's honestly the perfect answer! He skips unnecessary personal small talk and nosy questions entirely, and only offers a professional diagnosis of my current hair, the process ahead, and questions and talk about everyday hair care.

Thanks to that considerate way of putting introverts at ease, the time sitting in front of the mirror never felt boring or awkward; it felt like cozy time all to myself. I want to give him my sincere thanks and a passing grade for that delicate consideration. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Does the designer do everything from start to finish at Oreudeubi?

Yes. Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch is a two-person salon run by the owner and one designer, and each takes full responsibility for their own booked customers: cut, applying the product, shampoo and finishing styling. Staff don't swap in the middle; it's 1:1 responsibility.

With salon trends these days, you may have paid a lot for a big-name main designer, only for the important parts, like applying the product, drying or the flat iron, to be done in turns by less experienced assistants. That's frustrating, and many people end up with uneven hair or more damage. At Oreudeubi in Sangwangsimni, you don't have to worry about that even 1%, since it's a precious two-person salon.

Because the designer who best understands your hair's damage level and texture carries the care through to the end, there's no worry about damage, and the finished quality is bound to be different. You really feel like you're getting private care just for you, which is very appealing for anyone tired of the bustle of big salons.

How was the massage chair at the Oreudeubi shampoo station?

The Oreudeubi shampoo station has a full-body massage chair, so while the designer washes your hair and gives a scalp massage, your back, waist and legs get a massage too. It was the most moving moment at Oreudeubi!

When we moved on to the shampoo step, this is where I hit Oreudeubi's most dazzling moment. The shampoo station is fully equipped with a top-grade full-body massage chair! While the designer washed my hair with warm water and gave me a scalp massage, the soft massager kneaded my back, waist and legs all at once!

The fatigue stored in my body from the long treatment washed away in one go, and real healing welled up from deep inside. It felt like paradise, an all-time-best shampoo station system that gave me intense joy. 💆‍♀️✨

How did the layered cut turn out after the root straightening?

After finishing the root straightening, I got a layered cut at Oreudeubi too. The layers fall naturally without being overdone, so my hair is light but has exactly the volume I wanted. Just shampooing and shaking it dry at home keeps the line.

Honestly, a layered cut is a high-difficulty design cut where the designer's skill really shows: depending on how the layers are cut, hair can end up looking flyaway or, the opposite, too heavy. Thanks to the natural, not-overdone layers, my whole head feels feather-light yet has just the volume I wanted, and I love it!

Best of all, when I got home and just shampooed and shook my hair dry on my own, with no special blow-drying skills, this pretty line stayed exactly as if the salon had styled it, so my morning commute prep time has been cut in half, which is a huge joy. I've finally met the best layered cut of my life at Oreudeubi!
