Seafood restaurant Seogwipo galchi-jorim: Jejurowoon
In short
Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch is a seafood restaurant in Seogwipo, Jeju, where I ate with my children after visiting Seongsan Ilchulbong. We ordered two A sets with galchi-jorim and grilled okdom, plus sea urchin miyeok-guk; the large tables and high chairs made the meal comfortable, though the seafood stew was spicy and the braised cutlassfish became salty as it simmered.

After visiting Seongsan Ilchulbong, I was looking for somewhere to eat with my children and went to Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch (제주로운청해원 성산일출봉점). The galchi-jorim (braised cutlassfish) set came with several dishes, making it easy for the family to share.

Where is the restaurant, and how did we park?
The address is 101 Sinyang-ro, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The hours listed in the original post are 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM daily.
There was room for about two or three cars behind the restaurant. We parked on the road in front. At the time, it did not seem as though parking was being enforced, but I cannot say for certain that roadside parking is allowed based on this experience alone.

Was it comfortable to eat with children?
The interior had an L-shaped layout, and high chairs were available.

The tables were large, with enough room even after setting out several side dishes. There was also plenty of space to lay out baby food or toddler meals alongside our food, which was convenient.

What came with the A set, and what else did we order?
We ordered two A sets, which let us have galchi-jorim and grilled okdom together. They also included sticky-pot rice, ganjang gejang (soy sauce-marinated raw crab), and seafood dwaenjang (seafood stew served in an earthenware pot).

There were also a B set with mackerel kimchi-jjim, a C set with grilled okdom, and a D set with black pork duruchigi. The children chose sea urchin miyeok-guk (seaweed soup), which we ordered separately. Other individual dishes included abalone seafood dwaenjang and abalone porridge.

The prices written in the original post were ₩24,000 for the A set (cutlassfish), ₩15,000 for sea urchin miyeok-guk, and ₩3,000 for sticky-pot rice. The A set is described as including sticky-pot rice.

How was the galchi-jorim for children?
The restaurant noted that it uses 100% wild Jeju cutlassfish and that fishing hooks may be present. We did not find a hook in the cutlassfish we ate.

The galchi-jorim came already cooked and ready to eat, and it was set up to keep simmering at the table. As time passed, the seasoning became saltier, so we ate it with the sticky-pot rice.

The cutlassfish was thick, and my older child said it was delicious and ate it well. Even the medium-sized pieces had quite a bit of flesh to pick from the bones. I thought it would be fine for younger children if the bones were carefully removed and only a little sauce was added.

How were the side dishes and ganjang gejang?
The side dishes included pickled onions, stir-fried fish cake, and seasoned seaweed. The ganjang gejang stood out most. Although the crabs were small, they were full of meat, which came out easily when eating them.

Adding ganjang gejang cost ₩5,000. It was also sold separately for ₩40,000 per container.

How spicy and flavorful were the seafood stew and sea urchin soup?
The seafood dwaenjang in the A set contained mussels, shrimp, blue crab, and more. The broth was refreshing, spicy, and sharp. To me, it seemed like a level of spiciness that children who eat Shin Ramyun could handle.

The seafood dwaenjang also contained plump shrimp.

The sea urchin miyeok-guk we ordered separately had plenty of sea urchin in it. Even the children, who usually eat clam or beef miyeok-guk, found the yellow sea urchin interesting and ate it well without hesitation. It came out hot, so we needed to let it cool.

What was the texture of the grilled okdom like?
The grilled okdom served with the A set had an almost fried texture. Its outside was crisp like a cracker, giving it a different texture from the galchi-jorim.

What Jeju specialties were available besides the meal?
Udo peanut liquor and tangerine makgeolli were also available to order. Hallabong chewy candy also caught my eye.
