While traveling in Jeju, I went to Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch (제주로운청해원 성산일출봉점) near Seongsan Ilchulbong for a seafood set meal. It was a meal where I could try braised hairtail, seafood ttukbaegi (seafood stew in an earthenware pot), and grilled tilefish at one table.

Where is Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch?
The address is 101 Sinyang-ro, 1F, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea. The original post lists its hours as daily from 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM, with last orders at 9:00 PM.
Is there a wait even on weekday afternoons?
A large sign stood out in front of the restaurant. There were enough customers to create a wait on the weekday afternoon I visited, including families traveling together, couples, and groups. Inside, there were plenty of tables, arranged comfortably for several people to sit together.
What came with the set meal I ordered?
We ordered a set meal that included braised hairtail, seafood ttukbaegi, and grilled tilefish. After we sat down, banchan (Korean side dishes) began arriving one by one, and we could eat a range of side dishes along with the main dishes.
How were the seafood ttukbaegi and grilled tilefish?
The seafood ttukbaegi arrived first, still bubbling. It contained crab, shrimp, and shellfish, and the broth was rich. A spoonful was pleasantly spicy and refreshing, making it good with rice.
The grilled tilefish was golden on the outside and moist inside. It tasted clean, without any fishy smell, and the jeotgal (salted seafood) served among the side dishes was not too salty for me and had a savory depth.
How were the flesh and seasoning of the braised hairtail?
The braised hairtail had thick, tender flesh that came away easily with chopsticks. I did not notice a fishy taste, and its seasoning was moderately spicy and slightly sweet, pairing well with rice. The radish cooked with it had absorbed the seasoning well, so I ate it alongside the hairtail.
How was it for a meal with family or friends?
During the meal, the staff refilled our side dishes and made sure we had water, so we could eat comfortably. I liked that a generous spread of several dishes made it possible to enjoy a variety of foods together. Given the spacious tables and the meal’s composition, I felt it would also suit a meal with family or friends.
