Euljiro 3-ga beer pub with a friend: squid wrapped in gim, Eulsam Hof

Let me introduce a great draft beer spot for an nth round after drinks in Euljiro! It's perfect for a casual drink after work with no pressure. It's right by Euljiro 3-ga subway station, so it's easy to reach, and the beer is the real deal . . ♥ It also has plenty of that old-school Euljiro gamaek (convenience-store-style beer) vibe, so it's a place you should go right now. I went with a friend, fell for the atmosphere, and decided to go back, so here's my honest review!

Where is Eulsam Hof and what are its hours?

Eulsam Hof (을삼호프) is a draft beer pub at 50 Supyo-ro, 1st floor, Jung-gu, Seoul, within 100 m of Euljiro 3-ga Station Exit 11. It's open daily from 17:00 to 01:00, so it's great after work or for a later round.

What are the atmosphere and seating like?

Eulsam Hof is a standing pub for draft beer, so the seating is all bar tables! It's a nice spot to chat lightly over a beer. The seats are close together and the tables are small, so it feels cozy, you know? The cute guestbook messages on the walls are adorable too . . The mood is relaxed and free, so it works for solo drinking, friends or couples. I'll definitely come back!

It's an open kitchen, so I took a peek, and it was spotless, super clean! Love it, the owner is the best. There's a QR code on the table, so ordering is easy.

What makes the four draft beers different?

Eulsam Hof has four kinds of draft beer: Sulsul, Foam Foam, Toktok and Taktak, and you can taste how the charm and flavor change depending on how it's poured. So fascinating! I wanted to try them all, so my friend and I drank every one!!

First round: Toktok and Sulsul

The first two to arrive were Toktok and Sulsul. First of all, the beer is totally fresh.

• Toktok: poured so the beer and foam mix quickly, for maximum fizz! A real zing!
• Sulsul: the coarse foam is skimmed off and only dense, fine foam is left on top, smooth and clean!

It was honestly amazing that the same draft beer can differ so much in foam texture, fizz and how it goes down depending on the pour!! From thick, creamy foam to fizzy to clean-tasting, if you like beer, I really recommend trying the different styles.

Toktok is the standard beer style, and personally Sulsul is the creamy draft style and so delicious. It looked like the difference was only in the foam on top, but the fizz of the beer underneath differed too, so it was fascinating that the pour alone can make such a big difference.

What snacks are there, and how was the cuttlefish?

The menu is simple stuff that's easy to eat, and everything on it pairs perfectly with beer. There's grilled cuttlefish, Eulsam whelk (golbaengi, sea snails), dried pollack, nogari (dried baby pollack), dried squid, sausage, shrimp chips and more. After some agonizing, I ordered dried-snack hanchi (dried squid), soft, chewy and beer's best friend!

The squid was cute and plump, and they grilled even the legs so well. The sauce that comes with it is the real kicker. Gochujang, mayonnaise, sesame oil? A perfect harmony! Dipping the squid in it is heaven . . the beer just keeps going down . . Peanuts come too, on a super cute plate, and the squid was honestly so good.

Kim (seaweed) comes out too, and wrapping shredded squid in it is a real treat, so definitely try it.

Second round: Taktak and Foam Foam

The second beers I ordered were Taktak and Foam Foam!

• Taktak: a clean style, the glass filled with beer only and no foam
• Foam Foam: a beer with a glass full of rich foam for a smooth taste

I loved both! The special one was the Foam Foam. The foam is so soft that it just glides down, and it felt new ♥

Choose Cass or Red Rock at Eulsam Hof

Eulsam Hof lets you choose between two beers, Cass and Red Rock, and this time I had Cass. It was so good, but I'm going back to try Red Rock next time. A day I fell for draft beer .. In autumn weather, on a cool evening just right for a beer, you should definitely go! I think everyone will love tasting these fresh, new beers, so I recommend it.
