Naju bulgogi restaurant: galbitang & bibim naengmyeon lunch, Jeju Olle

Jeju Olle (제주올레) is a Korean restaurant serving charcoal-grilled bulgogi, naengmyeon (cold noodles) and galbitang (beef short rib soup) on the first floor of Hyu Tower in Naju Innovation City, Naju. On a weekend visit after 1 p.m., the order was a small charcoal bulgogi, one bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) and one galbitang. The lightly smoky bulgogi, a bibim naengmyeon among the best of the year and a galbitang with big ribs all satisfied, and the owner's kindness stood out. Verdict: Jeju Olle is a Naju bulgogi restaurant worth a 100% return visit, next time with parents.

Bueokgan Sangmu Branch (부엌간 상무점) is a Western restaurant on Seogwangju-ro in Sangmu, Gwangju, styled like a vintage European hotel with decor inspired by the Titanic's banquet hall. After shopping nearby, the writer ordered Couple Set B: garden salad, abalone cream risotto, pepperoni pizza, and orange and grapefruit juice. The salty pepperoni pizza with hot sauce and the risotto that recalls buttery abalone porridge stood out most. Bueokgan Sangmu Branch is a solid Sangmu date spot for both atmosphere and flavor.

During a day trip to Ulsan, the writer visited Shabre Garden on a weekday morning and tried vegetable-broth shabu-shabu, salmon sushi, tako wasabi (wasabi-marinated octopus) and desserts. Weekday lunch is ₩24,900. Shabre Garden is a solid pick for a family meal or company dinner when you want shabu-shabu and sushi in one place.

Naju café: blueberry yogurt and dirty choco croffles, Vibe Log Coffee

Vibe Log Coffee Naju Dongshin University Branch is a café near Dongshin University in Daehodong, Naju. I tried the blueberry yogurt and dirty chocolate croffles with drinks; both were crisp outside and chewy inside, with sweetness that was not overwhelming. The roomy seating was comfortable, and the two croffles cost under ₩10,000 at the time of my visit.
