Nampo, a patio clam grill in Gyodong, Daegu: great vibe and great food?
Nampo is an open-air clam grill restaurant in Gyodong, Daegu, that nails both atmosphere and flavor. It's patio season right now, right? This is the place you have to go in outdoor-dining weather: full of charm, affordable, AND delicious! A lot of vibey spots make you give up on the food, but Nampo is perfect on both counts! ᵕᴗᵕ

Every time I went to Sunday Gyodong I'd look at Nampo's patio and think, I have to come when the weather is nice. And I finally made it to Nampo, the clam grill in Gyodong, Daegu. It had a charming patio, dogs were allowed, and the food was good too.

A navigation tip for finding Nampo
If you just follow the navigation app, it takes you to the back of Nampo, an entrance you can't use. You have to go around to the front gate. It's the spot where the popular Sunday Gyodong is!

Once night falls the string lights come on and it's even more atmospheric. I really love patio season.

If you're looking for a clam grill place with great atmosphere, it's Nampo, Nampo! It feels like a seaside street-food tent moved right here, so I played a YouTube video of the sea with wave sounds while we ate, and it honestly felt like a real beachside clam grill.

Is Nampo dog-friendly? What did they do for the dog's spot?
I'm so happy Nampo allows dogs. We came straight from walking my dog, so I didn't have a dog bag, and the chairs were too small to put the dog on, so I asked if they had a bigger chair. The owner was so cute about it: they put together a box, hahaha, and even laid a soft blanket in it so the dogs had a comfy place to settle. As dog people, what we appreciate most is when someone looks after our babies like this. Super kind ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What's in Nampo's ₩59,000 stone-plate clam grill?
Nampo's biggest charm is grilling clams yourself on a stone plate (maekbanseok, a mineral-rich stone). Details like this make the food taste better and it was great for photos too. Oh, and the clam grill place in Busan that I went to because they put stones on the grill? It was really not good.. but Nampo is so delicious haha.

And for ₩59,000 you get this many clams, loads of cheese, and even abalone!

What's Nampo's free shabu like?
Nampo gives you shabu (a hot pot of broth and vegetables) for free with the clam grill, and seriously, what is going on with this lineup? They give you tons of vegetables, and the broth is refreshing and really delicious. It's basically clam soup! It feels like ordering two menu items for ₩59,000. I wish they'd add paid extras to the menu, like noodles or fish cake (the round fish cakes too..)! I hope this post reaches the owner ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟᐠ( ᐖ )ᐟ♡ It's a place I want to visit often, so I hope business keeps booming and the taste stays the same!

The shabu has clams, skewered fish cake, enoki mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, napa cabbage, fried tofu and green onion. It normally comes with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), but they were sold out that day, so they gave us sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes) instead. I like spicy food, so I asked for cheongyang chili peppers and added them. My friend who doesn't like seafood was really glad this shabu was on the menu.

Nampo's staff service and side dishes
The Nampo staff were super friendly, and they really love dogs, haha. I felt weirdly proud as a dog mom. They also put all the clams on the grill for us, which was convenient. The cutlet and salad that come as side dishes were tasty too.

This bread was so good to me. It tasted like pizza bread, and I'd have happily paid to add more.

Oh, and Nampo is a great place for music too. They play so many good songs.

I added the shrimp and small clams that came with the clam grill order into the basic shabu.

Why someone who's tried every clam grill in Daegu recommends Nampo
Even the sujebi was perfect. Nampo has dishes on the menu too; I was too full to try them, but they look good, so I definitely want them next time. If you claim the coupon on the Naver reservation page, you can also get muk chammal (acorn jelly roll) or seafood ramen. My friends love clam grills, so I've been to pretty much every clam grill place in Daegu, and Nampo is the most my style! Strongly recommended ୧(՞o̴̶̷̤ ̫ o̴̶̷̤ ՞)و
