Anyang pasta restaurant, late dinner abalone risotto: Two Find Peter

Two Find Peter Beomgye Branch is a spacious pasta and Western restaurant that takes up the entire 5th floor of Park Avenuel on Beomgye Rodeo Street in Anyang. On a late-evening return visit, a repeat diner ordered Caesar salad, myeongnan (pollock roe) oil pasta, abalone innards cream risotto, arancini and a Bundaberg Lemon. The pollock roe was seasoned just right without being salty, and the abalone innards risotto tasted nutty yet clean. With wide gaps between tables and a calm mood, Two Find Peter Beomgye Branch is a solid pick for a late glass of wine or a get-together.

Sanul-dong BBQ for after-work thin-sliced pork: Yachae Hanssam Daepae

Yachae Hanssam Daepae is a thin-sliced pork belly (daepae samgyeopsal) BBQ restaurant in front of an apartment complex in Sanul-dong, Sejong, with a self-serve bar where wrap vegetables and side dishes are free to refill. On a weekday evening at 8pm the writer walked to Yachae Hanssam Daepae for two servings of thin-sliced pork belly, then added bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) and fried rice, grilling minari (water dropwort), potato and bracken fern on the grill alongside the meat. Verdict: a neighborhood BBQ spot worth returning to whenever a craving for thin-sliced pork belly hits.

Sejong Italian restaurant after-work dinner: potato soup at Olibus

Olibus Italian Restaurant Eojin-dong Flagship is an Italian restaurant in the SBC Center in Eojin-dong, Sejong. The writer came for dinner after her husband finished work and ordered the signature potato soup, whole potato fries, red shrimp rosé panne pasta, steak cream risotto and a berry ade, and the potato soup — simmered in house and eaten dipped with baguette — stayed with her longest. Olibus fills up by 6:30 p.m., so book a table before you go.
