Hapjeong Indian food for first-timers: Set B & garlic naan, Deli India
In short
Deli India is a fusion Indian restaurant on the 2nd floor on Dongmak-ro 9-gil in Mapo-gu, Seoul, near Hapjeong and Sangsu, run by an Indian owner who has appeared on TV. A first-time Indian curry eater and a friend shared Deli India's Set B (green salad, tandoori chicken, curry, butter naan, rice and lassi) and added garlic naan, finding the spices mild and the portions generous. Deli India is a good Hapjeong pick for a course-style Indian meal with a friend or date who is new to Indian food.

Where is Deli India in Hapjeong?
Deli India is an Indian restaurant on the 2nd floor of 8 Dongmak-ro 9-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 564 m from Hapjeong Station Exit 6. The hours say daily from 11:00. I've been living around Hapjeong lately, and while wondering what to eat with a friend, we ended up having really good Indian curry here today 🫢

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, but there's a menu board on the 1st floor, so you can look over the menu before going up, haha

What is the atmosphere like at Deli India?
I heard Deli India is a fusion Indian restaurant run by an Indian owner who has even been on TV!! Go up to the 2nd floor and Indian-style interiors greet you, so the moment you open the door it feels like you've arrived in India?

Is Deli India easy for Indian curry beginners?
I went because I heard the flavors are easy for beginners. Traditional Indian food can feel overwhelming the first time, and since I'm new to Indian curry too, it was perfect (*˘◡˘*)

What comes in Deli India's Set B?
My friend and I ordered Set B for two, haha. The Set B lineup is really solid!!
- Green salad
- Chicken tikka (tandoori chicken)
- 1 curry (for 2 people)
- Butter naan (butter flatbread)
- Rice
- Lassi (yogurt drink)

Deli India in Hapjeong also had a wide range of curries and naan, plus drinks and Indian desserts, so I fully recommend it if you've been curious about Indian food |•͈ ·̫ •͈ ᐡ)

Even the tableware feels like eating locally in India. I've watched lots of India travel YouTube videos, so this was so fun to see, haha

Green salad with citrus dressing
The first thing out from Set B was the green salad! It wasn't the kind of flavor I usually eat: the dressing used tangerine? Some kind of citrus, anyway. It was sweet and sour and got my appetite going, so it was really good, haha

Jalapeños, pickles and marinated onions as side dishes
The Hapjeong curry spot Deli India serves jalapeños, pickles and marinated onions as basic side dishes?, and the marinated onions were totally my taste... Curry can get a little heavy, but these three balance it out, so I never got sick of it and it went down easily, haha

Generous tandoori chicken
Next came the tandoori chicken, with a generous portion and spices that suit Korean tastes perfectly, so I highly recommend it. It's good with the sauce and good dipped in the curry.

What does lassi taste like?
Just think of lassi as yogurt! I actually love lassi, so seeing it in the set was a plus, like 500 bonus points. Anyone who likes plain yogurt will find it easy to enjoy, haha

Butter naan, curry and rice: enough for two?
The butter naan, curry and rice came out last in Set B, and it was a lot more filling than I expected, haha. The butter naan is quite big, a good amount for two (it was a bit much for me, lol). The curry isn't spicy either, so it would be fine to bring kids.
Looking at the photos, I want to eat it again,,, it was so good that we've already agreed to go back with other friends, haha

Who should go to Deli India?
The spices in the curry and other dishes at Deli India aren't strong, and the flavors are easy for Koreans to like, so it's perfect when two people want a hearty, course-like meal!! I also ordered garlic naan, and both the butter naan and garlic naan are really chewy and delicious. Next time I'll try the other flavors too.
It's good with a friend who's new to Indian food, and I think it works for a date too, haha. If you want international food near Hapjeong Station, I strongly recommend it :-)
