Seongsu date restaurant for roasted salmon rosé gnocchi: Omil Seongsu

In short

Omil Seongsu is a fusion Western restaurant on a side street off Achasan-ro 5-gil in Seongdong, Seoul, serving pasta, gnocchi, steak and set menus for two. On a date, the writer ordered the 48,700 won set for two: rubber duck omurice, roasted salmon rosé gnocchi, Omil soba maki (soba noodle roll) and a Coke Zero. The gnocchi, crisp outside and chewy inside, stood out most. Verdict: Omil Seongsu delivered on both atmosphere and food, and the writer would return for a date in Seongsu.

Rubber duck omurice

The rubber duck omurice (omelet rice) was so cute. It was the kind of cute omurice you want to photograph. Decorated with quail eggs, it looked good and tasted good too.

You can actually take the rubber duck toy home! Such a cute concept.

The swirled egg on the rubber duck omurice was soft and moist, and the salmon fried rice inside was tasty too. The sauce was sweet and tangy, a textbook good omurice. The quail eggs were a subtle kick. Protein to keep you full, and well balanced overall!

Omil soba maki (soba noodle roll)

The Omil soba maki was also a generous portion. Each piece is packed with buckwheat noodles and a big chunk of rolled omelet. The one-bite size is overwhelming! It fills your whole mouth, but everything inside is soft and easy to chew, so it wasn't a burden to eat!

Look at this cute rolled omelet. Soft and mildly sweet, really delicious. There's a wasabi mayo-like sauce inside, so the maki was great on its own!

Roasted salmon rosé gnocchi: is it a must-order?

What I most want to recommend at Omil Seongsu is the gnocchi topped with roasted salmon! The salmon was cooked just right and the rosé sauce left a real impression.

Gnocchi crisp outside and chewy inside

This gnocchi in particular is total charm. Crisp outside and chewy inside, the texture is a work of art. The sauce was so good I kept scooping it up.

The salmon steak was cooked beautifully too, with no fishy taste at all. It pairs perfectly with the rosé sauce, and it was great piled on top of the gnocchi too! Please, please eat the gnocchi, T_T

Wash it down with a big glass of Coke Zero and the meal is perfect-💯 You can choose from a variety of set drinks! I'm a Zero lover, so I picked Zero. It was a really tasty, filling meal.

Verdict: is Omil Seongsu worth a return visit?

Just my personal opinion, but Omil Seongsu satisfied me on both atmosphere and taste, a solid Seongsu date meal. It was good enough that I'd go back if I'm in the area.
