Where is Deo Chadol in Gwacheon, and is it easy to get to?
Deo Chadol (더차돌) is a duck BBQ restaurant near Seonbawi Station, close to Racecourse Park Station and Grand Park Station. We had gone to the racecourse for a weekend date, and all that enthusiastic cheering made us hungry. Since we were already out in Gwacheon, I wanted something good and searched hard for Gwacheon restaurants, and that's how I found Deo Chadol!

Deo Chadol is a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Seonbawi Station, so it's easy by public transport, and it's close to Seoul Land and the racecourse, so it turns out to be well known as a Gwacheon restaurant near Seoul Land. There's also plenty of parking right in front, so it looked good for driving too.

It was once introduced as a celebrity hangout on KBS's 'Baedal Wassuda', and it became famous after many celebrities visited. That's Deo Chadol, the Gwacheon restaurant! *.*

Besides the TV appearance, Deo Chadol has a flashy résumé, including being selected as an excellent restaurant by Gwacheon City, hehe.

How was the wait at Deo Chadol on a weekend evening?
We arrived around 5:30pm on a weekend and there was already a wait. No wonder...! It really is a famous Gwacheon restaurant near Seoul Land.

The waiting area had iced water, air conditioning and chairs! You can also check remotely how many parties are left ahead of you, so the wait wasn't hard at all :)

After a short wait, we got in. Deo Chadol in Gwacheon is a duck BBQ restaurant serving grilled duck brisket, duck jumulleok (marinated, stir-grilled meat) and more!
What is the inside of Deo Chadol like, and is it good for groups?

The inside of Deo Chadol was very comfortable! There are 5–6 sofa tables for 4 where your group can sit at ease, plus about 2 rooms, so it would be good for groups who want some privacy. I thought it would be especially nice for older people or anyone with kids.

You order at Deo Chadol with a kiosk!
What comes in the Deo Chadol Chosim Set, and what are the side dishes?
We ordered the Deo Chadol Chosim Set (더차돌초심세트)! It comes with the following:
- Duck brisket
- Duck jumulleok
- Fried rice (1 serving)
- Doenjang stew (soybean paste stew)

The side dishes were perilla leaf pickles, scallion kimchi, ssam vegetables (wraps), cabbage salad, pickled radish wraps, garlic, ssamjang (dipping sauce) and more, all delicious things for wrapping up duck! Salt, pepper and a special meat sauce come out too.
Cups are stored under the seats. If you need more side dishes, you can grab them from the self-serve bar, which is convenient.

How do you grill the first course, duck brisket?
The set starts with duck brisket! The meat looked really good, haha.

It comes with plenty of vegetables like minari (water dropwort), onion and mushrooms. Put the meat at the top of the grill and the vegetables below, and they cook nicely in the duck fat.

Duck brisket is thinly sliced, so it cooks quickly! Still, they told us to cook it a bit longer than beef, haha.
Wrapped in a perilla leaf pickle and dipped in the special meat sauce, it was mild and nutty and so good! The kind of taste kids would like too :) It's my first time having duck brisket, and it's so nutty and delicious!!

There were lots of sides to eat with it, like minari and scallion kimchi, so I never got tired of it and it was fun mixing combinations. And these mushrooms were grilled so evenly, super tasty.
The set's doenjang stew, with an upgrade to seafood egg soup available
The doenjang stew included in the set smells properly good from the start. For ₩3,000 more you can upgrade to seafood egg soup.
But somehow when I'm eating meat, I crave doenjang stew, lol. That savory flavor, packed with zucchini, enoki mushrooms and tofu.

How is the second course, duck jumulleok? Is it very spicy?
Deo Chadol's duck jumulleok looks spicy, but it has almost no heat, just a mildly sweet-and-spicy seasoning. Just as we were finishing the duck brisket, they brought out the next course at perfect timing, and this time it was the marinated one.

It can burn, so stir it often as it cooks. It also has lots of add-ins like rice cakes and sweet potato. With that sweet-and-spicy seasoning, I think anyone, young or old, would enjoy it, haha.

The meat is hearty and there are lots of vegetables like onion and cabbage, so I liked Deo Chadol's duck jumulleok :) Stuff a perilla leaf full of it and it's practically health food, isn't it?

The last course, fried rice, and how big is the set?
The last course of the set is fried rice. They chop up the leftover duck jumulleok, add rice, and stir-fry it all together.

Seriously nutty and delicious fried rice. The set at Deo Chadol is so big ^___^ that I felt like I'd burst, but if you're Korean, you have to eat the fried rice.

Bits of duck were chewy here and there, so it was filling and tasty. Brisket, then jumulleok, then fried rice: the full duck course was just perfect.

Deo Chadol's restroom and small thoughtful touches
Deo Chadol's restroom is indoors, and with dental floss, mouthwash and more provided, I felt they pay a lot of attention even to small details! They also sell bead ice cream, which kids love, hehe.
Overall verdict on Deo Chadol in Gwacheon
Deo Chadol is a Gwacheon restaurant where you can properly enjoy a full duck course. It was a duck BBQ place in a comfortable, spacious restaurant.
