Why we went to Daedongjip in Guwol-dong: a pre-wedding celebration and protein snacks

Daedongjip in Guwol-dong is a pub known for its bossam (boiled pork wraps), so we picked it for a protein-heavy celebration before a PT session the next day. We had picked up our frame and album at the studio, then gone all the way to Hanam to get the frame swapped, and after all that we were completely wiped out, my fiancé and I..

Still, getting home to Incheon with everything on the to-do list finished brought a wave of pride.. My dear future spouse.. let's hold a small celebration party for ourselves after today's hard work! Off to a pub near our home! Since we had PT the next day, we wanted to fill up on protein-heavy snacks, so without hesitation we headed to Daedongjip, a well-loved Guwol-dong pub famous for its bossam!

What is the atmosphere at Daedongjip Incheon Guwol Branch? Group seating and a big screen

Daedongjip Incheon Guwol Branch sits in the Guwol-dong Rodeo Street nightlife area, and when we went on a Friday night it was really packed.

When we arrived, it was so crowded, probably because it was a Friday night. It has group seating too, so it works well as a spot for company dinners or get-togethers. There was actually a group of young people when we visited.. so fresh and youthful, ahh, youth. I used to be like that too......... hahahahahahahahaha

On the way out after paying, there was a selfie zone where we could take photos too.

A place to drink and watch soccer in Guwol-dong

One side of Daedongjip Incheon Guwol Branch has a big screen, and we happened to catch the national team's match against Venezuela. As someone who plays soccer myself... I never watch it at home, but at a pub I absolutely want to catch it.. soccer is so much fun TT TT TT TT..! The recent Japan vs Korea women's soccer match was the best too.. I think it's perfect for going to cheer on a soccer or fall baseball game day.

Daedongjip's complimentary snacks and the prices of what we ordered

Daedongjip's complimentary snacks are beondegi (silkworm pupae), corn, and conch-shaped snacks, plus a spicy bean sprout soup. A bean sprout soup that goes perfectly with soju is included too, so generous of Daedongjip. These alone were enough to finish a bottle of soju. The water came in a cute kettle, and whether it was hovenia tea or barley tea, it tasted even better.

How is the Daedong Bossam (medium)? Tender with no gamey smell

Daedongjip's Daedong Bossam (medium) costs ₩29,000 and comes on a large tray with side dishes such as tofu, radish kimchi and myeongi namul (wild garlic-like pickled greens). After getting seated, we ordered the Daedong Bossam (medium) and soju. It came out faster than expected. With a subtle retro vibe, the main bossam was laid out generously on the big tray, the pork was boiled tender with no gamey smell at all and filled the plate, and the various other side dishes served with it were treats you can't skip. Tofu + bossam.. now that's proper protein, right?

Well-fermented radish kimchi, a must with bossam, and

all kinds of side dishes piled on top (I especially love the myeongi namul TT TT TT) tidy up your mouth better than eating the meat alone and make the flavor of the pork richer, so

how could we not drink soju before taking a wrap!?

Protein + soju. The next day.... PT coming up... at least it isn't carbs, so I feel a little less guilty...

Daedongjip's clear clam soup: how is it as a soju snack?

Daedongjip's clear clam soup costs ₩19,000. We ordered it as an extra snack after the bossam, and it was packed with clams in a spicy broth. While drinking soju with the bossam, a little soju was left over, and feeling sad about it, we added one more snack. That's right, the clear clam soup !!!!!

At first the portion looked a bit small, maybe because the pot was big, but when I stirred the broth around, I could see it was really packed with clams.

The broth in particular was so spicy and refreshing that I couldn't put my spoon down.....

For a soju snack, there's really nothing better than this...

Ending the day at Daedongjip in Guwol-dong

The bossam and clam soup at Daedongjip Incheon Guwol Branch washed away the fatigue of a long day. And so one glass, two glasses, three glasses, four... Incheon → Namyangju → Hanam → Incheon, picking up the studio frame and getting it swapped.. my body was exhausted, but with tasty bossam and refreshing clam soup in a nice atmosphere, the tiredness vanished and the day ended happily.
