Dog-friendly café near Naksan in Yangyang with park walks: Kinship

This is Kinship, a Yangyang café I visited during our Sokcho–Yangyang trip. I'd come across it on Instagram before and thought, "oh, that's unusual, I'd love to go once" 😎

Where is Kinship and when does it open?

Kinship is on Mulchicheon-ro in Ganghyeon-myeon, Yangyang, so it's close to both Naksan Beach and Daepo Port. It was near our Naksan Beach lodging, and also close to where we had lunch near Daepo Port, so it was an easy stop.

Is Kinship in Yangyang dog-friendly?

Yes, Kinship is a pet-friendly café in Yangyang. However, the sofa area is off-limits, and dogs 35kg or more can only use the outdoor space. A takeout discount applies too.

There's a big park, a playground and a walking path right in front, so it's great for grabbing a takeout drink and strolling. Thumbs up as a dog-friendly café in Yangyang!

What's the atmosphere and interior like?

The whole place has a surf theme. Yangyang is super famous for surfing, after all! It's a new café already well known from Instagram, but it was a weekday in the off-season and it had been stormy the day before, so it was really relaxed.

Thanks to that, we got to chat a little with the owner, who is honestly as good-looking as a celebrity, and has a lovely voice too.

The building was originally built as a pension (Kinship Stay runs upstairs!), but the desserts got such a great response that they naturally opened the café too. Famous people drop by now and then, and it's a photogenic Yangyang café. The signature is the window cut into the ceiling in the shape of a surfboard, where you can gaze at the water!

And since it's a pet-friendly café in Yangyang, I thought I'd love to come back with Chorong-i next time we visit Sokcho, haha.

👉 They're not on the menu board, but I heard they've newly launched tomato bingsu (shaved ice) and injeolmi bingsu (roasted soybean powder shaved ice)!

What is the ceiling water view? The second-floor Kinship Stay pool

The water you see on the first-floor ceiling turned out to be the small pool of Kinship Stay, the pension upstairs. After ordering, since they run the pension above, we went up for a quick look before our drinks were ready, and the water we'd seen from downstairs was literally the little pool on the second floor?! Guests can even swim here, how nice.

How are the sweet corn crumble and coffee?

Fitting for a café that started out as a dessert spot, the sweet corn crumble was a real treat and so tasty. The signature coffee was good too.

The vibe is hip, the coffee and desserts are delicious and the seats are comfy, so it's the kind of new Yangyang café where you plan a quick stop and end up staying quite a while. If I get the chance, I'd love to stay at Kinship Stay too.

If you like surfing, I get the feeling the owner would happily point you to good surf spots or shops if you ask.

If you're looking for a dog-friendly café in Sokcho or Yangyang, or a photogenic café with a nice atmosphere, I highly recommend Kinship!
