Gyeongju walnut pastry shop where pea cream cheese wins: Buja Hodu
Buja Hodu is a rice-dough walnut pastry (hodu-gwaja) shop on Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk. On a weekday evening the almond praline was sold out, so three flavors — low-sugar red bean, pea cream cheese and matcha — were cut in half for a taste test, and 12 pieces disappeared in minutes. Each pastry holds a whole walnut for real chew, and of the three, pea cream cheese was the clear favorite.
