🍅 A tomato ramen date in Seoulsup
Menya Pomo Seoul Forest Branch is a tomato ramen restaurant on Seoulsup 4-gil. Unlike a typical ramen shop, its signature is a rich tomato broth base. With the chilly wind picking up and a hot soup sounding good, I went there with my boyfriend for an evening date.
It's on the 2nd floor, so we had to climb the stairs at the entrance, and it's popular enough to have its own waitlist board. Bottom line: the tomato broth and Hanwoo (Korean beef) cutlet go together better than I expected, so I recommend it if you want to try a new kind of ramen.

Menya Pomo menu: tomato ramen and sets

What we ordered: Indian curry and Hanwoo cutlet tomato ramen sets
I ordered the (Indian) Hanwoo cutlet ramen SET at spice level 1, no cilantro, with a fresh salad and a Zero Sprite-style cider (Korean lemon-lime soda). It was a curry tomato ramen where fragrant Indian-style curry meets rich tomato broth, topped generously with crispy Hanwoo cutlet. Spice level 1 was about the heat of Shin Ramyun.
My boyfriend ordered the Hanwoo cutlet tomato ramen SET. It's Menya Pomo's signature: rich tomato broth topped with juicy, crispy fried Hanwoo cutlet, and the set comes with karaage (Japanese fried chicken). He asked for it not spicy, no cilantro, cheese rice, and oolong tea.
We also added 2 yakitori skewers (₩5,500) and a tomato salad (₩3,000) as sides.

How does the Hanwoo cutlet tomato ramen taste?
The Hanwoo cutlet tomato ramen came with a soft-boiled egg, minced meat and shredded seaweed in a rich tomato broth. The broth is hearty but tangy, so it never felt greasy and I could finish it, and the cheese that came with the noodles melted slightly into the soup for a nutty depth.

Yakitori and tomato salad sides
The yakitori was chicken thigh skewers glazed with glossy teriyaki sauce, chewy outside and juicy inside, great to nibble between bites of ramen. The tomato salad was tomatoes drenched in sauce, and its sweet-and-sour taste worked well as a palate cleanser.
What makes Menya Pomo's tomato ramen different
