Dry cat food for two aging cats: Thrive Salmon & Herring

In short

Thrive PremiumPlus Salmon & Herring is a dry cat food tested at home with two aging cats in Korea. Both cats showed interest in the scent and ate it well, though the triangular kibble was not small. Verdict: both cats ate it eagerly.

Which cats did I feed it to?

I fed Thrive PremiumPlus Salmon & Herring dry cat food to my two cats at home. As both cats have been getting into their senior years, I felt that their skin condition, including flakiness, was a little different from before. I became interested in skin and coat care, so I chose this product, which was introduced as containing omega-3.

Which flavor and ingredients did I choose?

I chose the Salmon & Herring flavor. At the time of the original post, Chicken and Chicken & Turkey flavors were also listed. I was interested in the description that this was directly imported food made at Thrive's factory in the UK.

What caught my eye in the product description was that it was made with dried meat and fresh meat rather than powder. Its meat content was described as 70%, and it was a food that emphasized animal protein.

Did both cats eat it well?

The salmon and herring scent came through clearly. The cats sniffed it and showed interest, and both ate it well. For me, that was the most satisfying part of this feeding trial.

How were the storage format and kibble size?

Because it was vacuum-sealed, it did not take up much space in storage. Its zip-bag format also made it easy to close again after opening. I also considered that it was grain-free food made without grains such as corn, rice, or barley when choosing the product.

The kibble was triangular and not small. So I thought it would suit cats that chew their food well before swallowing.

What was I hoping for while feeding it?

After seeing that it was described as containing omega-3, I hoped it would help with skin and coat care. What I specifically noticed from this experience was that both cats ate it well.
