In short
Mummum Dasa Branch (뭄뭄 다사점) is a Japanese restaurant in Dasa-eup, Dalseong, Daegu, right next to Dasa Catholic Church between Daesil Station and Dasa Station. On a rainy afternoon the writer ordered an eel bowl, hot udon and shrimp tempura with Kirin draft beer at ₩5,000 a glass (₩2,500 for 200ml), and the thick eel, signature sauce and deep udon broth stood out. For a filling Japanese meal on a chilly day, the eel bowl and hot udon combination at Mummum Dasa Branch is well worth ordering.

Is Mummum Dasa Branch good for dates and group meals?
The warm, tidy wood-tone interior caught my eye the moment I walked in! It's cozy yet clean, so it works well for a date and would be perfect for a get-together with people you care about too. It was a lovely space for a relaxed meal.

How does Mummum prepare its ingredients?
Mummum is especially famous for its salmon sushi and salmon sashimi! They say they receive top-quality fresh salmon and ingredients every day, and age the salmon in-house with kelp for 24 hours to bring out even more savory depth. They also say all ingredients are high-grade and generously sized, and everything is cooked to order so it's fresher and tastier. Knowing they take such care from ingredients to cooking, I was looking forward to it even more. We ordered the eel bowl, hot udon and shrimp tempura!

Free side dishes and broth served with every meal
After we ordered, pickled scallions (rakkyo), pickled radish (danmuji), a cabbage salad and a warm broth came out first! A perfect basic set to go with Japanese food, right? I took a sip of the broth and it was deep and clean from the stock up, which made me even more excited for the main dishes.

How much is Kirin draft beer at Mummum Dasa Branch?
Kirin draft beer at Mummum Dasa Branch is ₩5,000 a glass, and a light 200ml pour is ₩2,500. So cheap! The price is really good! The second he saw the menu, my boyfriend said he couldn't resist the Kirin draft and was going to drink in broad daylight, haha 🤣 Tasty Japanese food with a cold draft beer, how great is that? Anyone who likes a drink will be glad to see this on the menu!
How much is shrimp tempura with a noodle dish?
The shrimp tempura at Mummum Dasa Branch is ₩5,000 for 2 pieces, but ₩3,000 when you order a noodle dish, so there was no way we weren't getting it! And so the eel bowl, hot udon and shrimp tempura arrived!

Mummum's food always comes out so neat and tidy that I can't help taking photos. It looks so appetizing that it puts me in a good mood before I even take a bite!

It was raining that day, so the udon tasted especially great. It's loaded with fried tofu (yuba), fish cake and bonito flakes, and the broth is a work of art!

How does the eel bowl at Mummum Dasa Branch taste?
The eel bowl at Mummum Dasa Branch is seriously good! The eel is really thick and big, so it's wonderfully chewy, and Mummum's signature sauce is a work of art. It's chewy and nutty, a real treat!! Definitely a recommended dish.

The shrimp tempura was crispy outside and moist inside, so it was great as a side dish! Plump shrimp inside a crunchy batter, and it tasted even better eaten with the main dishes.
How to enjoy the eel bowl
The eel bowl at Mummum Dasa Branch comes with a sauce, so I dipped the eel lightly in the sauce and ate it on the rice with ginger and wasabi on top.

Glossy eel is piled on top looking so tempting, and the sweet-and-salty seasoning soaks right into the eel, so eaten with the rice it's an amazing combination.

The eel was soft and moist, easy to eat without feeling heavy, and the seasoning blended well into the rice too. The more I chewed, the nuttier and better it got.
How was the hot udon on a rainy day?
The broth of the hot udon at Mummum Dasa Branch was truly a work of art!!! Hot, deep broth with bouncy noodles, fried tofu, fish cake and egg all came together in harmony, light yet filling.

With the first bite, the warm broth loosened everything up inside, and I enjoyed it down to the last drop! It was just right for chilly weather. Having shrimp tempura as a side went really well with the hot udon broth too. Dipping it in plenty of sauce made it even better!
