Euljiro Yeontan Gui in Luone City

What kind of BBQ restaurant is Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch?
Euljiro Yeontan Gui (을지로연탄구이) Luone City Branch is a budget-friendly charcoal BBQ restaurant in Luone City selling pork belly and pork neck from ₩5,900 per 100g. Besides back meat (dwaetgogi), hangjeongsal (pork jowl) and galmaegisal (pork skirt), you can also get beef like galbi finger and beef skirt, plus grilled shellfish such as scallops and pen shell.
The prices are unbeatable and anything tastes good over charcoal, so it's a great Gajeong Station spot for company dinners and family meals. Whenever I have a friends' get-together in Luone City, I always come to Euljiro Yeontan Gui for pork and soju!! You can sit in one spot: round one is pork belly and pork neck, then bibimbap as a meal with a drink, and round two is scallops and chili mackerel, so the soju just keeps flowing... 😇
The owner and staff are so kind that I recommend this Gajeong-dong pork BBQ place to everyone I know. The price is cheap, but the service and the taste of the meat are not cheap at all, so here's my detailed review. Let's go~

What are the hours, parking and location?
Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch is open from 4pm to 5am, and until 1am on Sundays and Mondays. You can use the building's underground parking lot, with up to 3 hours of free parking.
- Hours: 4pm–5am
- Open until 1am on Sundays and Mondays
- Parking available (building underground lot, 3 hours free)
It's on the first floor of 3M Tower, in the Luone food street, the Gajeong 1-dong eating district in front of Gajeong Station. I can proudly say it's the cheapest BBQ place on Luone City's somewhat pricey food street.
The parking entrance is wide and there are lots of seats, so it's perfect for a family dinner or company outing in Seo-gu, Incheon.

What's the atmosphere like inside?
Inside, it's a retro BBQ place like a nostalgic alley eatery. Old posters on the walls and a rough handwritten menu board make it a Gajeong Station BBQ spot that really makes you want a drink. A friendly staff member showed us to a seat, and we sat down to order.

How do you order, and what are the prices?
Every table has an ordering kiosk, so you pick your menu by looking at photos. Meat can be ordered in 100g units, but the first order must be at least 300g. With so many pork and beef options, it's nice for trying a little of everything.

Crazy-value pork belly and pork neck start at ₩5,900 per 100g! Other cuts are cheap too, and best of all you can add more 100g at a time, so it's perfect for sampling lots of things as drinking snacks.
You know shellfish are great on charcoal too, not just meat..🥹 The owner prepares the fresh shellfish himself and brings them over, and they're easy-to-eat scallops and pen shell, so if you're looking for grilled shellfish in Luone City, this all-in-one Euljiro Yeontan Gui is the place!!

What are the side dishes and self-serve bar like?
The basic side dishes start with pickled onions, seasoned bean sprouts, napa cabbage kimchi and raw garlic. The pickled onion sauce is a rich soy-based sauce with chili flakes that goes well with pork.

Signature icy radish salad
The signature icy radish salad (salmeoreum mu-saengchae), served with the seasoned lettuce, has a fun crunchy, slushy ice texture, and the flavor is somewhere between fresh radish salad and dried radish strips. It's spicy and tangy, so you can top your wrap with it like a garnish instead of ssamjang (wrap sauce).

Lastly, they give you fresh wrap vegetables, lettuce and perilla leaves. And all the side dishes they brought out, plus the others!! are all set out at the self-serve bar. Besides the sides they served, there are pickled onions, pickled radish wraps (ssam-mu), and pineapple, which is even better grilled. The self-serve bar was clean and hygienic, and the staff refill the sides regularly. 👍🏻

Free spicy bean sprout soup
The spicy bean sprout soup (kongnamul-guk) that warms you up comes free at Euljiro Yeontan Gui. The sprouts are crunchy and plump, and the broth is spicy and deeply savory, great for slurping alongside soju. It comes in the pot, so if it cools you can set it on the grill and reheat it at your seat.

Today I ordered a Coke Zero~ a ₩2,000 soft drink.

How many grams of pork belly, pork neck and back meat did we order?
Today's meat was 100g pork belly, 100g pork neck and 200g back meat, 400g in total. Back meat alone is ₩7,400 per 100g.
When you order 400g of meat, usually two kinds is the maximum, but at Euljiro Yeontan Gui you can mix up to four kinds. They also gave us free king oyster mushrooms.

The meat is cut thicker than what you'd grill at home. The chewy back meat came as good-quality Korean front leg (apdari-sal) that looks pale and fresh just sitting there. The back meat looks like it has more fat than the pork neck and pork belly, and when I picked it up with tongs, the springiness of the fat was crazy..!

They place it on the strong charcoal fire in neat little groups. Doesn't the meat look amazing..🥹 Cheap meat doesn't mean cheap quality. This is a Gajeong Station BBQ place that's great value for meat, and I totally recommend Euljiro Yeontan Gui. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Is the ₩4,900 five-color bibimbap worth ordering instead of fried rice?
The hidden legend on the menu, five-color bibimbap (obaeksaek bibimbap), is ₩4,900 and is more than just a replacement for the fried rice people usually get after BBQ. If you usually order fried rice for dessert at a BBQ place, I highly recommend this bibimbap. 👏🏻
The bibimbap comes in a big metal bowl generously topped with seasoned bean sprouts, stir-fried seaweed stems, radish salad, seaweed flakes, lettuce and a runny fried egg, so ₩4,900 is excellent value.

The taste is even better..✨ It has a high ratio of seasoned vegetables, which is great, and the sauce isn't just gochujang, it's the kind of sauce BBQ restaurants use for fried rice..! A spicy, nutty, savory flavor that's familiar and tasty any time. You can also grab bean sprouts and radish salad from the self-serve bar to make it even heartier, and wrapping it in lettuce or perilla leaves is really good too.
Carbs and fiber at the same time, this crazy-delicious five-color bibimbap gets my recommendation. ✌🏻

How does the charcoal-grilled pork belly taste?
The pork belly at Euljiro Yeontan Gui is grilled directly over strong, fragrant charcoal, so it comes out crispy outside and juicy inside. Meanwhile the pork belly is getting nice and golden, the charcoal grilling is going properly.

The taste is exactly camping-style meat in a charcoal version 🥹 The fragrant charcoal brings out the rich meaty flavor even more, the meat is springy and chewy, and the juices locked inside are crazy; good meat + charcoal = a winning combo. It makes the soju go down easily.. It's delicious with just salt. No need for wasabi or salted shrimp!!

Adding the crunchy, tangy and spicy side dishes and eating it as one bite in a wrap is great too~ The charcoal presence is so strong that even in a wrap the charcoal aroma is crazy. I recommend Euljiro Yeontan Gui in Luone City, a Gajeong-dong pork BBQ that's great with meat!

How much did it cost for two?
We ate pork belly, pork neck and back meat plus five-color bibimbap at Euljiro Yeontan Gui, and it came to the ₩30,000s. 👍🏻 Clean-plate value, so good~
Euljiro Yeontan Gui was a Luone City pork BBQ place with really good value. How about charcoal BBQ and a glass of soju at Euljiro Yeontan Gui in Luone City over this October holiday!!😋
