Powdered oat drink for breakfast: Garuseonsaeng Oat Drink
In short
Garuseonsaeng Powdered Oat Drink is a 500 g oat powder drink for breakfast or after light exercise in Korea. I mixed it with water, milk, and warm water; it was mild in water and richer with milk, though a little powder sometimes settled at the bottom and I needed a try or two to find my preferred thickness.

I like overnight oats, but preparing them every day is a hassle, so I tried Garuseonsaeng Powdered Oat Drink, an easy-mix option. I had once bought an oatmeal drink at a convenience store that I could not even finish half of because it did not suit my taste, so flavor was what I was most curious about this time.

What form does it come in, and what are the ingredients?
It is a 500 g powdered oat drink and comes with a dedicated scoop. It is said to be made by grinding Canadian oats whole, including the hulls.

I was interested in the explanation that it uses the oat hulls as well. There are Original and Unsweetened varieties, and I have not tried the Unsweetened one yet.

The package has a wide opening, which made it easy to scoop out the powder. It was also convenient to keep it in one corner of the kitchen and take out only what I needed each day.

- The Original ingredients are oats, sea salt, and unrefined raw sugar.
- The Unsweetened version is an unsweetened product made with 99.6% oats and 0.4% sea salt.
- The product description states that it contains no emulsifiers, artificial flavorings, or preservatives.

When I tried it, the sweetness was not excessive; it was subtly mild. I also liked that the ingredients were simple.
How much should you mix with water or milk?
The basic ratio is two dedicated scoops for 150–180 ml of water or milk. You can add one scoop for a thicker drink, or add more water if you want it thinner.

On busy mornings, the easiest method was to put water and powder into a shaker bottle and shake it a few times. Mixed this way, it dissolved well without clumps, so I could take it with me right away.

How did it taste mixed with water versus milk?
On days when I had more time, I mixed it with milk. The nutty flavor was much stronger than when mixed with water, so I preferred it with milk. It did not quite feel like a latte, but it was mild, and it kept me feeling full for quite a while.
I also tried it with warm water. It was thick like oatmeal porridge, and my stomach felt comfortable afterward.
I made it with both water and milk for my son, who is exercising. He usually drinks protein powder and is particular about flavor, but he said the water version was clean and easy enough to drink. He liked the milk version more, saying it was nuttier.

Compared with the convenience-store oatmeal drink I had tried before, this was less chalky and went down more smoothly. I could barely detect the fishy note that grains can sometimes have, so I drank it without hesitation.

Does powder settle, or is it hard to get the thickness right?
The particles are fairly fine, but a little powder sometimes remained at the bottom. At first, it also took me a try or two to find the thickness I liked. I felt it was best to start with the basic ratio and adjust the water or powder little by little.

How did I store it, and when did I drink it?
The storage instructions are to keep it in a cool place away from direct sunlight and seal it after opening. The stated best-before period is 12 months from the manufacturing date.
With liquid drinks, I felt pressure to finish them quickly after opening, but the powder was convenient because I could take out only what I needed. It also suited my routine, since preparing overnight oats every day had felt cumbersome.

I use it as a breakfast replacement or as a drink after light exercise.

I plan to try the Unsweetened version next. My assessment of this flavor is not a comparison that includes the Unsweetened version.
