Why did I use a car glass oil-film remover?
On rainy days, the glass looked greasy and my view was hazy even with the wipers on, which was uncomfortable. At night especially, oncoming headlights spread out, making driving feel tiring.
Streaks remained even where the wipers had passed, and it felt as though there was an oily film on the glass surface. This time, I tried managing it myself with AutoGrooming Clean View oil-film remover.
What comes in the set?
The product I used was AutoGrooming Clean View oil-film remover. It comes with the remover and a dedicated towel, so there was not much else to prepare.
How did I remove the oil film myself, and how long did it take?
At first, I worried that doing it myself might be difficult, but the process was simpler than I expected.
First, I sprayed plenty of water onto the glass surface. I put a suitable amount of the remover on the included towel, then rubbed the glass. Following the directions, I went over it about four to five times, and the areas where water had initially beaded up seemed to gradually disappear.
I liked that I did not need to apply much force while rubbing. After rinsing with water at the end, the glass felt clearer. Cleaning everything from the windshield to the side windows and rear window took about 10 minutes by my estimate.
What felt convenient when using it for the first time?
The biggest advantage for me was that the job did not feel daunting. When using car-glass care products, I tend to worry about whitening on the rubber molding, but this time I felt less concerned about that as I worked.
It did not feel like an amount that would be used up in one go. I heard it can be used three to four times on a midsize sedan, so the price also felt reasonable for what is included.
Having a dedicated towel included also made it convenient for a first-time user. It can apparently be used to remove water stains from shower booths as well as car glass, so it seemed versatile.
How did it feel to use it before applying rain repellent?
This time, I used the oil-film remover before applying a rain-repellent coating. Getting the glass surface in order first made the coating step afterward feel cleaner too.
After the care, I felt that visibility on rainy days was better than before. I was satisfied because the stress from wiper noise and light smearing was reduced too.
Was I satisfied with managing the glass myself?
The process was not difficult, and the work time felt short. In particular, I could rub without putting much strain on my arms, which was convenient for someone like me who had found self-managing car glass intimidating.
I started this because the greasy look on the glass and light glare on rainy days had been bothering me, and I was satisfied with both the hands-on process and how it felt afterward.
