Songpa café: a matcha hater's hojicha Wundergato at Wunder Coffee Bar
In short
Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch is a coffee and ice cream café on B1 of Hyundai City Mall Garden5 in Songpa, Seoul, near Jangji Station. After dinner, the writer ordered the Wundergato (hojicha & vanilla mix) and Wunder Coffee set for ₩13,200 and ate it at the shared seating, and a partner who dislikes matcha and green tea ice cream actually ate the hojicha Wundergato more eagerly. Verdict: the Wundergato at Wunder Coffee Bar is a no-fail after-meal dessert, even with the hojicha mix.

After dinner I felt like having a cup of coffee, so I looked up a good coffee spot and found Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch, a popular café in Garden5! Before going I checked the recommended menu, and apparently the Wundergato and the Wunder Coffee are the famous ones? There was even a set that lets you get both, so that's what I ordered haha
And the hojicha ice cream turned out to be way better than I expected?! My partner, who normally doesn't like matcha or green tea ice cream, actually ate it even better than I did, lol
Wunder Coffee Bar Garden5: location, hours and parking

Wunder Coffee Bar is at 66 Chungmin-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul, on B1 of Hyundai City Mall Garden5. It's open daily 10:30–20:30 (last order 20:00). It's about 189m from Exit 4 of Jangji Station, and parking is free for 4 hours regardless of how much you spend (as of the visit).
It's near the escalator across from VIPS, so keep that in mind when you go looking for it. It's also a nice place to stop by for a coffee after a meal, like we did haha
And one thing I really liked: the parking is free for a whole 4 hours, lol. And regardless of how much you spend! That's plenty of time for a meal, coffee and some shopping haha. If you're coming by car, worth knowing.
Wunder Coffee Bar menu and prices: how much is the set?

Wunder Coffee Bar has ice cream on the menu as well as coffee. Main item prices are below (as of the visit).
- Wundergato ₩7,200
- Soft serve ice cream ₩6,500
- Wunder Coffee ₩6,500
- Americano ₩5,000
- Café latte ₩5,500
- Vanilla latte ₩6,000
We ordered the Wundergato + Wunder Coffee set for ₩13,200! Ordered separately it's ₩13,700, so the set was ₩500 cheaper haha. The Wundergato is an affogato-style dish, ice cream with coffee on the side, and the Wunder Coffee is a cream latte topped with sweet cream. Both are recommended items, so this time I went with the set.
Wundergato ice cream flavor: I wanted vanilla but switched to the mix, lol

For the Wundergato you can pick the ice cream flavor from three options: hojicha (roasted green tea) / vanilla / hojicha & vanilla mix. Honestly, I originally wanted vanilla? But then I found out the signature here is hojicha ice cream! Hojicha…? Now I'm curious, lol
But I didn't want to give up vanilla either, so I figured I'd try both and ordered the mix haha. And in the end I was really happy with that choice!

The hojicha ice cream goes so well with coffee, more than I expected?! It has that nutty hojicha flavor and a lovely aroma, and with sweet vanilla ice cream and bitter coffee together, the combination was really good haha

Will someone who hates matcha eat the hojicha Wundergato?

My partner, who doesn't like matcha or green tea ice cream, ate the hojicha Wundergato even better than I did. Wait, my partner is eating it better than me…?
This part was funny too, lol. My partner doesn't really drink coffee. They like ice cream but dislike matcha and green tea ice cream. So I figured they wouldn't care for hojicha either, but what?… They ate the Wundergato better than I did, lol. I mean, you say you hate matcha and green tea but you eat hojicha just fine…? (My partner, a mystery as always, lol)
I actually thought my partner would like the Wunder Coffee more, but it was the complete opposite of what I expected. Anyway, we both really enjoyed the Wundergato haha
Wunder Coffee taste: a cream latte like an Einspänner!

The Wunder Coffee we ordered with it is a cream latte topped with sweet cream. With the cream sitting on top of the coffee, it felt a bit like an Einspänner (coffee with whipped cream). It tasted better drinking the cream and coffee together than stirring it.

Drinking the sweet cream with the coffee was nice haha. It's not overly sweet, just sweet enough to be easy to drink. And since I had it after dinner, it was just right as an after-meal drink, lol.
If what stuck with me about the Wundergato was the combination of nutty hojicha ice cream and coffee, what I liked about the Wunder Coffee was drinking the sweet cream and coffee together.
Wunder Coffee Bar seating: we took it away and ate at the shared seats

We took our Wunder Coffee Bar order to go and ate a bit at the shared seating in the Garden5 food court before leaving. We scooped the Wundergato with a spoon and drank the Wunder Coffee with the cream and coffee together, a short dessert break haha
It seems like a good stop when you're shopping at Garden5 and want a coffee, or when you want dessert after a meal.
Honest review of Wunder Coffee Bar at Garden5

I went because it was called a great coffee spot, and in the end I enjoyed both items! I was going to have only vanilla, but I got the mix out of curiosity about hojicha, and it would have been a shame to miss it, lol. The Wunder Coffee's cream was just sweet enough, so it was nice after a meal. The parking being free for 4 hours regardless of spend was another thing I liked.
I'm 100% up for eating here again next time I'm nearby!! lol If you're looking for a café near Jangji Station, give Wunder Coffee Bar a look haha. Next time I'll probably order the Wundergato as the mix again ><
